Manu Bhaker scripted history when she became the first Indian athlete in history to win back-to-back medals at a single edition of the Olympics in the Paris Olympics 2024. Speaking to Republic Sportfit in her most candid podcast, Manu a devout Hindu, talks about how she reads the Bhagwad Gita every single day for inspiration.
Manu spoke in detail about how her mother, who is a Sanskrit and Hindi lecturer, first introduced her to the Bhagwad Gita and how she felt that the book could be connected to everyday life as a whole, while teaching her invaluable lessons.
Manu Bhaker also added that she has a life coach who tells her 2 or 3 verses that she must read from the Gita everyday, while also speaking about her reverence for the rich culture and heritage that India has.
In fact, Manu would go on to say that she believes that India's rich ancient culture is something that needs to be celebrated and that more and more people should be more open about their beliefs, stating that it is important to also respect everyone for their respective beliefs.
