Ginobli in his prime 2005-2010 was unbelievable top 10 player in the league. The only SG in the NBA that gave Kobe problems. As a Lakers fan i have so much respect for Ginobli.
In an era where Duncan, KG, Lebron, Kobe, Wade, Nash, Dirk, CP3, Carmelo, and even Dwight played some MVP-level basketball, being a top 10 player in the NBA was no small feat. All of those guys mentioned (except Dwight) are on the NBA75 list, and Manu deserves that recognition also. In 2008, Manu was one of the very best players in the NBA on both sides of the ball, and although anyone watching the games could tell you that just based off the eye test, his advanced stats just objectively prove it. He was 7th in PER, 6th in WS/48, 6th in VORP, 6th in OBPM, 5th in DBPM, and 3rd in BPM! He played only 31 minutes per game, coming off the BENCH! Absolutely insane. He was certainly robbed of an All-Star selection this year. This man falls somewhere between the 5th to 8th greatest SGs of all-time in my book, it’s a shame he will probably never get that recognition. When people argue against Manu being a first ballot HOFer, I can’t help but to feel offended on his behalf, although I’m sure he himself could care less. Manu was always about doing whatever was needed for his team to win, individual stats and accolades be damned. I truly admire Manu for his greatness as a player, his all-time competitive fire and passion for the game. And I equally admire him as a man, for his selfless nature and impeccable character. I miss seeing him on the court so much.
“Only sg that gave Kobe problems”. I mean Iverson, Wade, & Mcgrady also gave Kobe problems to. You should’ve seen what Iverson did to Kobe during the 1999 lockout season and Wade did to him during Christmas 2006, both gave him 40 plus piece and were insanely quick.
Lituania always is among the best basketball team in the world. Great three points shooters and big atlethic center players. Sabonis is the best european center of all times. When he played for the soviet union he was just unstoppable. And in the nba he was an amazing player. You should be proud of lithuanian basketball history 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Buen defensor, buen penetrador, buen tirador de media y larga distancia, buen asistidor, inteligente, rebelde y líder.. simplemente único, el mejor jugador de la historia de Argentina.
Manu Ginobili is just a winner. He have won three nba rings 2003,2005,2007, one gold medal in olympic games 2004, beating usa with Tim Duncan,Lebron James,Melo and Wade, and won euroleague basketball with Kinder Bologna being MVP in athens 2004 and eurolegue 2002.HE IS JUST A WINNNEEER
Yes i saw the game between Argentina and Russia, and i cyed because Argentina lose a close game with a three point shoot of Alexey Shved.May be the last game of Manu Ginobili with Argentina.
Al ver esto de manu , dejando ya su prime, demuestra lo bestia que era primero como jugador y después como anotar y defensa y verdadero jugador completo, totalmente subestimado pero ala hora del partido siempre cerrando bocas...
Way back when Manu was young, fast and had a full head of hair! I called him "The Human Pinball" because he would ricochet through the defense, bouncing like a pinball off every player on his frantic flight to the hoop!
Who shoots better? Manu Who passes better? Manu More athletic? Lbj More strength? Lbj More creativity? Manu Better ball handling? Manu So whose the better offensive player? Manu Lbj is better defensively though. Manu wins Manu is better
miketherealest100 no way, he just has the ball more and plays more minutes. Look up any manu ginobili highlights for some of the best passes IN Traffic you will ever see. Lebron is very strong and penetrates and kicks it out to the shooters, thats his main passing asset.
***** LeBron doesn't post better. His post game is seriously his biggest weakness. This is slightly offset by his strongest asset, his ability to get fouls at will.
incluso los relatores decian constantemente que no creian en la cantidad de puntos que estaba haciendo Ginobili. Fue siempre subestimado por relatores y la liga en general. Esta formación con Oberto fue increíble
this guy was the reason why I started following NBA in 2005... as a kid, I grew up idolizing MJ, as teen, it was Manu all the way.. In this game, you can view this as a head-to-head bout and Lebron lost to Manu..
I mean, I am sick of the commentator here. He got high for lebron's every single move, even it was just a jump shot. But for Manu, he was just like, "he is a good player, he got a free run, defense is too easy." BIASED
Agree 100%, I thought I was being unfair but that commentator was biased , of course if Manu had been of an african descent his comments would've been so much more generous, a darn racist if you ask me.
are u guys serious? its the cavs announcers, of course they are going to be biased towards the home team, its there fucken job, just like the spurs announcers do when cleveland goes to there....
Who is the commentator for Cleveland saying that you need to drop Ginobili? Look, I'm all for that strategy. I do it myself as a big man...But has the guy ever seen Ginobili play? Ginobili doesnt care in the slightest.
Manu has amazing basketball IQ. If he wasn't in Spurs he could be someone with a similar stats as Wade, with more assists. However, with that being said, his number of rings owned will be significantly decreased as well.
In ginobili's prime, he receive a lot of flagrant fouls, because they just hate him, he'd been a headache not only in the nba but on international competition as well.
Watching this makes me think "what if Manu was a full-time starter and not the sixth man in San Antonio? Would he have had games similar to this nightly?"
