Greetings from an inspiring test engineer. I have recently completed a course from a reputed institute in Bangalore, and I was very confident with the knowledge I had for manual testing as I had gone thoroughly with the syallabus they taught. However, when I appeared for an interview my confidence shattered as the questions that came in the written test were mostly out of the syallabus that they taught and even in the sample interview questions. Then one of my mate in the batch referred me to your videos and you had covered most of the parts of the questions that were asked in the written tests. I am glad that I found your videos and it is helping me a lot to gain knowledge to be a skilled tester. Considering the example of positive testing if we enter the numbers with the negative sign ex : -8889 Does it come under positive testing or negative testing

Entering negative number is Positive testing. Any number will be classified under positive testing (unless your requirements specify that only positive numbers are allowed). Negative testing will be entering non-numbers like alphabets, special characters.

In retesting they will check entire features where in unit testing only modified feature.

As per my knowledge, in unit testing, tester will also check the other impacted area of the same module apart from bug is fix or not and in Retesting the only concern is, whether the bug is fix or not. We can automate regression testing but we can't automate retesting.

Retesting is done when it is sent for a bug fix to check if bug is existing again or not , but unit regression is done whenever changes are made/bug is fixed/any sub functionality is deleted by developer.

what is regression testing? regression testing is testing technique done when a functionality or more gone for change/update/delete/modification we make sure that that change didn't impact the other functionalities/modules of application. according to Pavan (sir) we have three types of regression testing. 1. unit regression testing- where we only conduct testing on functionalities that gone through changes. 2. regional regression- where we test functionality that changed along with impacted functionalities in build/previous build/ in application. we come to know about impacted functionalities by conducting impact analysis meeting with developer/programmer. 3. full regression- no matter if a single/multiple functionalities are changed/deleted/fixed we will run all test cases in test suite to cover the functionalities of entire application. thank you..

I have a question, if retesting is just testing the bug fixes in that particular module, would it be like unit regression testing? Since Unit regression testing is just testing the bug fix in that built, and retesting is just testing the bug fix. Wouldn’t retesting be like unit regression testing?

Re-Testing :: Whenever the dev has fixed the bug, tester will retest the bug alone. Thank you for uploading all the videos. I have a question on the basis of what you said earlier we cannot begin testing the software until requirement documents are in place . I am not sure what is the purpose of explorating testing on what basis we would be able to conduct the explorating testing? Why we would test software if we don't have requirements?
