Get a string of xmas lights. Cut one of the light off with plenty of extra hot & ground wire. Rotate the tip of the christmas light's bulb (glass) over a candle until it is black. Dip it in cold water to quickly crack the glass, cutting the top off. You now have the exposed filament. When connecting the battery, it sparks like hell!
I'm installing it but I don't know how to make the spark stay, in this moment it just make a little spark when I connect but for other spark I have to disconmect and connect again. I need help for making the spark to stay.

I used a 4.5v supply and connected it’s positive to negative on the ignition coil and vice versa, then connected a paper clip to the ignition coil output and the ignition coil positive. ( I had a button on the input since it is dc) And I press the button a ton and it arcs a little bit.
Trying to make a propane ignitor with this exact method + a switch, for the life of me I cannot get the spark to ignite anything. Not propane, hair spray, carb cleaner, butane, anything. Yet the spark is visible and audible. Yes the chamber has oxygen and will burn with a lighter. I feel like the spark just isn't hot enough? Even in an enclosed chamber with propane and air, I can make it pop-pop-pop-pop-pop with sparks and it just wont ignite off a 9v battery. No this isn't for a potato cannon. I guess my question for you or anybody breezing past, would it be possible to use a capacitor somewhere on this circuit to get a hotter spark from the 9v setup? And how would you do so? I have tons of little capacitors and diodes, just not the knowledge of how/where to place a capacitor here for a larger burst/spark. Trying to find information for the specific need is next to impossible. Been trying for days. I feel like I'm the only person who has ever needed a capacitor to be hooked in in this manner. No, I can't really use a larger battery for this. Thanks for any help, from anybody

If I take a battery Hook positive to bottom of spark plug then take a lead from top to negative of battery will I get continuis spark? Asking for jet engine research
I'm trying to reproduce that but I have a 12v 5a power supply and it won't work. Is it because of the ignition coil? I'm using a brand new gy6. Maybe I'm doing the connections wrong. Can you help?
when the magnetic field in the primary coil collapses, it has sort of a backslash, which sends high voltage into the battery, but if you have a capacitor, it can catch that voltage before going into the battery, or arching the contact points

@@reesesinpieces7418 It's been a year, but the voltage "capture" you are referring to occurs in the distributor, where the battery voltage is switched on and off by the "points" in the distributor. The capacitor is there to protect the points from arc damage. But the voltage from the vehicle's battery which "turns on" the coil is only regulated by a high watt resistor. All that is occurring to that 9 volt battery is high drain due to high load. 9 volt batteries are capable of high current outputs, but only for a short time. His short contacts are merely draining the battery.
LOL.. Are you an idiot? a D-Cell is 1.5 volts, he's using a 9 Volt battery, probably closer to 7 volts considering it's old. The coil needs between 9 and 14 volts to work.
