September 9, 2020 - Separating of cattle manure into liquid and solid fraction. This is done by contractor Essink at Groot Wassink dairy.
The machine of Slootsmid contains 10 FAN separators and is electrically driven by a Kohler generator.
The Sauerburger SH300 wheelloader with Hemach sawdust spreader spreads the solid fraction into the lying boxes.
The liquid fraction goes the slurry pit.

Saves on bedding costs as it’s not cheap to have truck loads of sand delivered or to purchase a bale shredder

it does not, becaus it is dryed, an if you use lime, it is cleaner than saw dust

@@gerhard583 lime or a similar ingredient is often used with saw dust...so not sure your claim of it being 'cleaner' is fair. I share the OPs concern. I would definitely need to see the science with this technique before I made a change.

i know that reusing the manure for the cows to sleep on is a lot cheaper but just to let you know in us&a our cows get to sleep on straw.

It looks cool but is it worth it? the machine hour must be expensive and you dont get so much bedding material. Or someone explain.

Extracting the dry stuff for bedding, sideeffect is less volume to store in the slurry pit, this can get critical over the Winter when your not allowed to spred any out in the field. The thinner slurry is also easier to spread with injectors and seeps better in the ground causing less dirty foddercrops.

ideally this job would run off of locally produced PV, maybe smaller output but steady whenever there's surplus production that would go to the grid. Seems unnecessarily wasteful to power those electric motors off of that diesel generator.

You do know that they can make "Talkies" now? You know, like maybe somebody could get that special device you use to pick up the sound of the machines, and then they could, you know, talk into it. It's a wild idea but you could tell people what's going on in this video with all the machine sound. You could write up a script of what to say. In that script you could tell people what those machines are doing. Maybe something about what all that stuff is going in one one side of that machine, and what's coming out of the other side. You could call it a Documentary.
