Yes. I think of Palestine all the time, it has up-ended my world view, all else is trivial. I am exhausted, but get energy from people like Makdisi Bros. And the brilliant Tariq Ali. Have to find ways to fight the forces of this genocidal empire
Can't stop thinking about the "Palestinians", but Syrians,Yemenis, Kurds, Egyptians, African countries, are all less important. Maybe your inability to think about anything else has to do with the Qatari/Palestinian brainwashing machine.
I'm autistic and I finally realised that palestine has always been my main special interest I did my history degree about it and I remember that the last time I stopped eating and talking because of being depressed about the world ignoring palestine I ended up being put in the psychiatric system. It's very difficult to point out to people how much the dsmv is used to prevent revolutionaries from being listened to.
Have you heard Bryn Jones' project Muslimgauze? His hyper-prolific output (approx 90 releases on 30 labels in 15 years) was mainly focused on Palestinian resistance. He died 1998 at age 37 and remains largely unknown. His music is subtle and sonically restrained but politically charged.
They like to shut austistic people up because the tendency towards (what they call) hyperfocus is useful in the hands of good people, for changing the system.
Great discussion 🙏 I’m so glad I’ve found this Chanel 👍 another ‘teller of truth’s’ I can trust for accurate information. 🙏🇵🇸💔😭💔😭 #humanity #freepalestine
I highly suggest you interview Tony Greenstein who wrote an fascinating book which i am currently reading on Zionism during the holocaust . The book documents the long right wing fascist support of Zionism especially in Nazi Germany. He should be heard by more people and i think you would have an amazing discussion.
The citizens of the empire are the ones that can put an end to this, but it requires a lot more ppl taking to the streets, calling on their congressmen and women to change their policies, boycott etc....
When we blockaded the administration building of Princeton University protesting apartheid in South Africa in 1984, they did call in the city police to arrest us. (and city police carry guns)
Haven’t watched yet but just from the title I wanted to share I had my final project to graduate college in October. I ended up having using all of my drops to drop the class three times because I couldn’t follow through without falling off or getting behind. (1 class per month type thing) then I had to temporarily withdrawal because I just couldn’t make it happen. Now in that last class again, going to finish this time. But just wanted to share as one testimonial to the fact that what’s happening there has weighed so exceptionally heavy on so many of us. Don’t ever forget what they’ve done. Don’t ever forget what you’ve seen, what you’ve read. Don’t ever forget who made it possible. Don’t ever let them get away with it
This title alone: either we are only thinking of Palestine or can't deal anymore with our helplessness, the inability to process the slaughter and hypocrisy and try not think about it. It's a consuming rage and helplessness, a pathetic condition where we "watch" our screens like we "watch" Netflix.
Wonderful interview and a great post-interview discussion from the three of you. I noticed one of you was in London (my city). Is there any way you could all visit for a live Q&A somewhere here. I'm sure you'd have a good audience. Between you there must surely be a way to connect with one of the Universities or cultural venues here. LSE, Somerset House, Mosaic Rooms, RSA, Barbican, UCL ...?
As a second generation Palestinian whose parents were forced out from their land in 1948, thinking about Palestine consumes all our lives and that of our children the third generation, until when I wonder… (formerly from Sidani street)
Palestinian armerican living in a highly liberal, pro Israel area. have never felt more isolated in my perspective on the world. feels like everyone is complacent or in favor of the genocide in Palestine. glad to find videos like this
Pessimism of the intellect, Optimism of the Will "I’m a pessimist because of intelligence, but an optimist because of will." Antonio Gramsci in a Letter from Prison (December 1929) Antonio Gramsci "You must realize that I am far from feeling beaten…it seems to me that… a man out to be deeply convinced that the source of his own moral force is in himself - his very energy and will, the iron coherence of ends and means - that he never falls into those vulgar, banal moods, pessimism and optimism. My own state of mind synthesises these two feelings and transcends them: my mind is pessimistic, but my will is optimistic. Whatever the situation, I imagine the worst that could happen in order to summon up all my reserves and will power to overcome every obstacle."
It is really astounding how you guys can do this entire conversation without once mentioning - even in passing - the Palestinian resistance and its allies, how Ali can talk about 'military' dominance' of the US when they can't even stop the Houthis from bankrupting Israel, dismisses out of hand the immense changes going on in the global south, with the military alliance of Russia, China, Iran and DPRK, and so many other things that simply don't exist in his and your reality. Apparently the only defence Palestine has is US students... No wonder you get depressed amid all this defeatism and dismissal of any actual armed resistance. I have immense respect for Tariq Ali, but on some issues he is and always has been very very wrongheaded.
@@lanialost1320 Ups. First I understood 'donut' ☺, then doner. 'Dollar' makes much more sense, but of course it's nevertheless shameful to sentence someone to death for stealing such a ridiculously small amount. Thank you for the correction. ❤
Starmeris allegedly a human rights lawyer and ahould therefore know that human rights are indivisible! Moreover as a human rights lawyer who happens to be the new prime minister, Starmer is cognisant of Britain erga omnes obligations relative to the international legal norms it signed and ratified especially in regards to recent icj pronouncements
Thanks for this very interesting and inspiring discussion. Concerning the discussion between about 45:00 and 56:00, I do think the narrative is changing against 'liberal zionism', at least is some countries in Europe. You can see it how media that were/are staunch defenders of Israel are less confident now, are more on the back foot because of what everyone can see and understand. At the same time they also start to realize that embracing far-right/populist movements, or using their support, which they did initially, is harming them. There are far-right (maybe even fascist) pro-Israel individuals embracing far-right white supremacists, but I don't see that as having a long shelf life.
a f/up: please do it soon. missing here is theobvious, why is there no call for ano-fly-zone by the chief littoral combatants, why is there no outrage of an absent relief flotilla areaC/coastalgaza, why is Sisi complicity not an item for discussion, why is the complicity of the oic-arb regimes not focused. these sideliners frustrated the yemen famine, the afghan famines, mosul, aleppo
All of you have appeared to completely dismissed the opposition of Norway, Spain and Ireland, at both the institutional and social levels, to the genocide and ethnic cleansing. Unfortunately Tariq has displayed his British influences in presenting the EU as a dysfunctional monolith. This is a very deceptive narrative that permeates across the Atlantic due to Britains cultural connections to the US, even in the most serious academic circles. The EU is by no means monolithic in social or cultural terms and even in foreign policy terms.
From Ireland I definitely think Starmer and Labour are going to be as bad if not worse . Extremely pro Union which doesn't suit us in Ireland who want a United Ireland. Re Israel Gaza etc I don't see Labour being good either. They use nicer words but the policies are much the same or worse.
It is unrealistic to expect you to be impartial about China. A civilisation that has existed in continuity for over 5000 years is obviously a threat to India. Just saying! 🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
Hamas' actions on October 7th were a direct result of escalated, severe zionist Settlers violence in the West Bank against Palestinians, that Israel had control of basic utilities to Gaza, its blockades of necessities to civilians cut off at whim. That Israel has imprisoned thousands of Palestinian children in the West Bank, subject to physical abuse - as documented by international sources. Hamas wanted their children released. And of course the continuing illegal, brutal Occupation of Palestine.
😂😂 be honest, you can't keep thinking about Jews If Palestinianists were in conflict with Jordanians you wouldn't even know about it let alone talk about it
