Every league will have 3 splits next year

Take it with a grain of salt, but I watched some ERLs this year and honestly the level is terrible, it's hard to even notice a player who stands out, everyone seems so bad. Tier 2 structure in Europe REALLY needs to strenghten up; effort, money and time have to be invested to make EU roots stronger, otherwise it's doomed. Personally, I think it's important that the players coming from ERL needs to be already well-rounded and "ready" right from the first game in LEC, because the format deoesn't give much of a time for rookie to develop.

Like idont think any team except g2 could be in the upper half in lck. Its pretty clear that lck is way more talented so its not that eu players are worse I just feel like both lec and players in lck have discovered the option recently that they could come to eu. Like a mid player in lck is probably more talented then many lec players. Then ofc it’s different region even different continent maybe they don’t adept well but I think it’s worth it to gamble on a Korean import who maybe have higher sealing then just go with the safe option.

Like what u talking about can u name one team that have gotten imports this season that u think dropped in fans. Like i feel like it’s increases viewers first cause it makes the a lot of teams better and that creates a more competitive league. So instead of having like a few competitive games every week we actually have a lot of competitive games now. And ur comparison with football is kinda off like it’s completely different reasons why most lck players join eu then why Ronaldo went to Saudi Arabia. Most lck players join cause they don’t have a team in lck and orgs sign them to improve and maybe even develop players. Ronaldo was just cause he wanted money he’s old and the Saudi league did it for publicity. Also the mdk roaster wasn’t made to make more fans it was cause elyoya wanted to have a Spanish team tbh idont know the numbers but i feel like more people enjoyed the old mad lions more.

@@abbe3161 I didnt say the Imports are bad or were not worth it. What I am saying is, that Yamato basically said only performance counts, which is correct from a coach perspective but not necessarily for the club. To give you an example. Lets say I have the option of getting 3 players that are more less equally good, but they are ranked by performance from best to worst. 1 is korean LCKCL Player, 18 years old, speaks no english, never left Korea before 1 is LCK Player at his end of his career and a huge Star, lets say Faker 1 is EUM Player Who do you take? Each has advantages and disadvantages that are probably more relevant than the performance they bring... Faker is insane for your Brand; has high Leadership, but might lack motivation The LCKCL Player might have huge resell value and is the best overall player, but he might not be able to adapt to the foreign country The EUM Player is familiar with the environment, language and culture are no Problem.. its the low risk, low reward pick

@brandonverzijl6234 but like... why tho? Why would anyone want their region represented by a worse player just becaue of where they were born? Maybe nationalism is a better term than racism, but it just seems bizzare to me.

Additional context: Pre-2018, EU and LCS were trending in similar directions with regards to imports where a majority of teams had at least one Korean import. Then Fnatic won in 2018 with a full european roster and G2 did the same in 2019, both reaching world finals. The LCS only accelerated imports which had the unintentional side effect of demotivating native talent from going pro and led to an arms race to import the most expensive Korean players, while their international performances tanked. That's the situation EU fans are worried about, with regards to "turning into the lcs". For what it's worth, I think part of the issue with importing players is that the main thing holding the best LEC players back is the level of play/practice they get in EU and so a good but not great player in the LCK transplanted into the LEC might be great for a bit, but eventually their level will get dragged down to LEC level.
