I feel like a big part of the brands identity is their indie outsider perspective so I’ll be interesting to see if they can maintain that under acquisition.
Absolutely love I Don't Know What. It was one of the first full bottles that I got, at your recommendation. And I absolutely love it. One of my go-to's.
I love these update videos! Debaser and Burning Barbershop all the way for me. I have two bottles of White Peacock Lily. You can still find left over stock here and there.
I know I'm weird but I like Deep Dark Vanilla, I haven't smell anything like it but to me is addictive 😆 I find it a little similar to pistachio that I also like, the only problem with both is that they doesn't last on my skin. Love Leatherize as a stand a lone fragrance and yes that one is strong! Let's hope the new owners doesn't butcher the brand there's a lot I haven't tried. Thanks for the video Sebastian!!!

Interesting that your picks are their newer fragrances in the line up. Personally, I much prefer their earlier releases like Burning Barbershop, Cowboy Grass and Mississippi Medicine.
I Don't Know What is great. It amps up fragrances that have become boring to me. It works great for that. I have also used it with Pistachio, and I like that combo.
Seems to me that D.S. & DURGA is a good fit for Manzanita Capital, but time will tell. Depends on whether they will allow them to operate independently or not. Thanks for this video, Sebastian! ❤

If they didn’t mess up Diptyque or Byredo why would they mess up DS & Durga ? They seem to know what they’re doing & as they say they’re not looking for a quick buck & are happy to play a long game.

Interesting. I knew nothing about any of these particular niche brands prior to this video. I'll be watching for opportunities to experience these fragrances...but some are pretty out there. Green bell pepper in a fragrance??? Doesn't sound appealing, frankly. However...I recently ordered samples of Isabella Rossellini's Manifesto, long discontinued, and I quite like it. I may not wear it a lot, but enough that I bought 20 ml each for myself, my daughter, and my granddaughter. I think it's a summer fragrance that is very clean!
I’ve been using this brand for a while Pistachio was just okay for me, I don’t know what definitely no. My favorite is Debaser. I like Blackberry and bay Jo malone, Diptyque Philosykos. Fresh and juicy but not too sweet is my preference.
Oh no, this has me a little worried. I just ordered a travel spray of Deep Dark Vanilla and now I'm scared. lol. Oh well, maybe it will work for me. I really haven't tried many of their scents. I have a travel spray of Pistachio, which is pretty but I wish lasted a bit longer on me. I've also tried Mississippi Medicine and Amber Kiso. Mississippi Medicine is interesting, but not sure I would wear it very often. This is so random, but Amber Kiso reminds me of this snake bite salve that was in a very old first aid kit that was in the back of my dad's truck when I was little. It took me right back to playing as an Army medic as a little kid. lol. I do like it, though, and may buy a bottle one day.
Top from the house in order for me, Italian citrus, on my skin is so great…..radio Bombay, d.s., and debaser. Pistachio is nice but it never sits right on my skin.
El cosmico reminds me of my childhood prancing around the Arizona desert. It’s wild and amazing……unfortunately I cannot wear it as it’s headache inducing, but I use it as a house spray in spring when I open the windows, to get all the fresh air goodness I can.
I went to Metropoliten to buy Amber Kiso and Teutonic but they didn't have it and the sales representative told me that both will be reformulated in 2024 so I found bottles other way and I would suggest who loves these fragrances should do the same, who knows what will reformulated fragrances smell like and I would like to add the sales representative didn't tell me it's because they are being sold but because IFRA has new baned substances for 2024. What is the truth I don't know but I got my older bottles.
Well I have two full bottles and two decants of DS & Durga frags, but I haven't surveyed the entire brand's offerings. But in my limited exposure I've developed an impression that their advertised balance of creativity/wearability is a bit off. Not wearable enough. For me, wearability is premium. Don't try to be too artsy-fartsy. I did early on identify two wearable Durga frags to full bottle buy: Radio Bombay and Bowmakers. Radio Bombay is very wearable and one of my favorite sandalwood frags. Bowmakers is an interesting woody scent that's just on the right side of the creativity/wearability balance for me. My two decants, however, are another story. Burning Barbershop is 99% burnt and....where's the barbershop? Not wearable, and certainly not a Barbershop frag. Debaser is a slightly off-kilter fig scent. I have a whole sub-collection of fig scents but Debaser is one of the few I've thumbed down.
Is the "I don't know what" a dupe? Or the English version of "J'ne sais quoi" perfume? And since they got bought by GAP..... Banana Republic fragrances smell good.... Yet they last 1 minute on the skin, or clothes.
