DAYUMMM!!!! Classic shade being thrown by Irina. Mao is still doing well though and I wish her the best going into world's this year. Her programs are beautiful and she just needs to be clean and I think she could win it!
that's why when new skaters come out at 15/16 and everyone's like- wow they're so amazing they're going to dominate for years, i think just hold on a minute. it's one thing to win, it's another to keep fending off the competition. i mean mao will go down as one of the greats and a 3 time world champ. it would have been so shattering to her to be pumped up and adored so much by the media at such a young age and then it doesn't work out the way everyone said it would.
If she went to the olympics in 2006, she could have SO beat Shizuka Arakawa and Sasha Cohen. Yu Na can keep her vancouver gold, but Mao deserves Torino gold.
Irina, such a hater...lol, well Irina, lol, she became a 3 time world champ, Olympic silver and the 1st woman to land 8 triples at the Olympics. Before the onslaught of Irina fans, lol, I am actually an Irina fan myself. lol, I'm all about fighters and those that are consistant! Irina, Kwan, Yuna, Asada, thank you!
Who knows? She had a forgettable 2009 season and she came back in time in Vancouver to take the silver, when everybody was writing her off. In 2006, if she was mistake-free, she'd beat Yuna for sure. But then it's always wishful thinking.
Not really. If Mao could have gone to the Olympic in '06, so could Yuna. Yuna beat Mao at Junior Worlds 177.54 to 153.35 around Olympics time, beat her in BOTH Free Skate and Short Program. The idea Mao should win Torino is the biggest myth ever without doing some research. Yes she could have beat Shizuka, but she could not even beat Yuna. Lost by 24 points, MORE points lost than in Vancouver. It was not even close.
Well actually Irina isn't a hater and mao is still skating however she's not meddling. She's not competitive at all. She gets no where near the podium. Irina at 25 was a champion beating young girls, winning world championships. Can't say the same about mao. Mao can't come close to the young girls who are on the scene today.
