why cant we like both Mao AND Yuna. They are both highly respected athletes (they both deserve it). Even if you dislike one of them, you should still respect the other.
Andrew Austin So true!!! I love them both. They both bring different attacks on skating, and both are wonderful to watch. I don't see why we have to hate the one or the other just because they were close competitors.
I couldn't agree more. Even they seem so friendly to each other. If I would be on Yuna's position I would be ashamed about my fans comments when I see Mao every time. Supporting someone is good but being too dedicated adorer is kinda bad thing.
@@hilalk-b Every time I watch Kim I am embarrassed by the comments of her fans. They are offensive because they often come to Mao's videos and still make fun of her shortcomings even 10 years ago, even the fans who pretend to treat the two equally criticize Mao for some reason just because Yuna is made fun of a little. It's really ugly.
I don't understand why there are still comments pushing the two of them as friendly only in Mao's video. Mao says he hasn't kept in touch with Kim at all since he spoke to her at the Sochi Olympics. The reason why I don't like both of these girls at the same time in the first place is because their personalities, skating skills and love for each other are the exact opposite. I think we should just respect each of them separately.
Some of the commenters seems to forgot about fair play. I want to remind you guys the 2002 Fifa. The game between Korea and Türkiye was an incredible example of fair play and all the sisterhood between nations. How could these beautiful and hospitable people became bulliers to an athlete in social media. Even Kim Yuna herself wouldn't hold that much grudge on Asada Mao. They were not enemies they were rivals, rival means a precious person to keep you work for better in a way. Because sports is not only about the color of medal or the rank, it is about to give people a good vibes. Also in a national point represent your country humbly and pride your nation. I don't think your nation become prideful about you when you bully an athlete and her fans on social media. Please leave these two legends of figure skating alone. Our country's great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk has a beautiful saying about sports; "I like an athlete with intelligence, agility and also the highest of morals.” This sentence is also right for audience. Please be more gentle and considerate in your comments. Love you all.
Agreed. Some of them pretend to be Mao fans and come to her videos, but as soon as they make fun of Yuna a little, they show their true colors. They are really ugly!
In those cases, her triple loop was under-rotated - meaning she is more than 1/4 (but less than 1/2) of a rotation short of 3 revolutions. This has a reduced base-value of approximately 70% on the jump considered under-rotated.
i dont understand why an underrotated 3flip3loop combo is valued less than 3flip alone...like ya ok mao underrotated the loop part of the combo but shouldnt the flip get its value PLUS additional points for an underrotated loop? Seems weird to me (and half of maos UR in combos are bogus theyre perfect bruh)
The scoring was super strict during Mao’s early era with the early IJS system. A fall would be 50% deduction and a GOE deduction of like 2.4 points. So if you look at Mao’s fallen triple axels, they would be worth 1 point. They were super strict especially with the under rotations, two-footed landings and even wrong edge. She once got a 50% deduction for wrong edge on lutz in her early career whereas in 2014 Sochi, she only got a 0.6 deduction.
Love her so much! She is the queen of jumping, not only because of triple axels. What she has achieved is just so amazing!!! The announcer called her "The Queen of Triple Axel" at the gala of 2010 olympics. So pround of her!
How I hate these comments... Kim and Asada have been two great athletes, two inspirations. One is not better than the other. Race of idiots, we have to love other umans in the world, compare and accept other opinions instead of spit each other in our face! Sorry for my English, I'm Italian. Who wants to understand can understand. These things make me sick.
Tbh I’m not a hater of Mao,but the entry of her flip jump seems a bit...weird to me. I believe it should have been a straight line entry without a significant change in edge, but Mao do changed her edge from outside to inside right before her takeoff. Maybe it is not a problem technically but it was just kind of strange to me
Your right. I love Mao but her flips were weird. Going from a mowhawk puts your edge on a flat/outside edge, Shiziku Arakawa had an outside flip. Mao would have gotten a lip if not for rocking back too much onto the inside edge. Your right about it needing to be in a straight line, Mao used her deep inside edge for power in the jump, along with her mule kick, kicking her into the deep inside edge. She did fix her technique though after moving from Tarasova where she did a closed mowhawk and controlled the inside edge better and didn’t rock around. Her deep edge caused her to have a flutz as she no longer felt comfortable on an outside edge. Her 2008-09 seasons still had a flat/kinda outside lutz and pretty much lost it in the 2009-10 season and on. Following Tarasova, she went to fix her lutz and finally got a true lutz in the 2016 nationals
quite confusing use of edges, even to the commentators sometimes. She is known for the flutz and now for the lip too, just based on this video. Such a shame for a beautiful skater like Mao.
She didn't have lip, these edges were very obvious inside (but after a change from outside in take-off, yes). The way she took off the flip was confusing for commentators, cause she had very uncharacteristic back entrance for flip.
can perfectly* she's been doing triple lutz triple toe loop combo from 2009 onwards get your facts right and her jumps are almost never under-rotated. The jumps that were marked under-rotation previously caused some judging controversies by both commentators and retired figure skaters.
Shark Park I am not korean or Japanese. I am Cambodian who like Figure skating ⛸ and I am a Figure skater too but my country don’t participate with ISU so yeah
She is amazing with her 3A, but i find her 3F weird sometimes. A flip needs a straight line on before take off. Hers are overly deep inside edge as suggested textbook flip should have 5° inside edge only. With her deep inside edge, she tends to make a very curve line before take off, and it's weird to watch it for ne
