I like Russ very much - he's a great ambassador for Mapex. These are nice ideas for drums, no doubt, but I couldn't help but immediately think they're rivaling Tama's SLP line. They are, indeed, different drums altogether though. I think those will all do well. For my taste it's a standard Remo Ambassador on every snare drum, at least to start.

I think Russ made a mistake there, all maple cherry shell it's a contradiction. I have the first version of the cherry bomb and it's 100% cherry wood, this one it's the same wood as mapex post on their web page: mapexdrums.com/us/design-lab/

, Basically, the 13" is the same as the previous version, minus the dark laquer plus a thicker shell. The old one is a great sounding snare, I wonder how the thicker shell sounds like in real life.
