Watch as Brian 'Red' Hamilton and Nadia Popovici announce Auston Matthews' as the winner of the 2021-22 Hart Memorial Trophy, beating out Connor McDavid and Igor Shesterkin for the honour of league MVP.
Well deserved. I’m sure he’d rather be playing but hopefully he comes back next year even better. He’s just hitting his prime. Not even 25 yet. Leafs fans should feel lucky.
If you've got a goalie that's nominated for the Hart, KEEP THEM. It's incredible to see. And congratulations to Matthews for winning it, let's hope you get past the 1st next season!
Yes absolutely. What really kills me though is stuff like last year when they lost to the Habs in 7 was seeing him and a couple others from the leafs going to an event in Vegas I believe with Justin Bieber it was like literally the next day or two. I know these guys are human and all and need vacations and all but come on you just lost one of the most humiliating losses and your literally on a plane the next day going to vagas.! I don’t know maybe it’s just me but I would be so down and upset that I don’t think I would be able to mentally and physically do that. Just my opinion!
@@chrisorrell3066 I noticed that too! UFC in vegas two nights after they got eliminated. thats really "showing he shows he cares about the leafs" right?
@@davidneudorf1183 Tell it to the people who obsessively comment on everything the Leafs do with the same repetitive lines. I guess you're agreeing, Leafs haters are pathetic losers?
I think it's because they're the biggest choke artists in the league. A lot of talent on that team, but they can't put it together when it matters most.
@@dr.loomis4221 they barely qualify as vets. They played their best hockey this past season, I won’t be surprised when they play even better this upcoming year. Outside of last post season, they’ve had the worst possible match up every year. But they only do it to themselves by losing to Arizona, Buffalo and Detroit every game they play.
My God, could he have looked anymore sloppy then the way he was dressed. This kid will never lead any team to a Cup. He looks/sounds like he was drunk or high.
@@shoresy4084 I still think most people would identify McDavid as the best player in the world, but he can still be bested or have others guys considered right with him in the confines of a particular season. As for the points, 1.54 pts/game vs 1.45 pts/game really isn’t an overly significant difference.
Ok and Matthews had the highest goal total in the last 10 years and scored 51 in a 50 game span on top of being a top 5 Selke candidate. Don't act like he doesn't deserve it lol
Let’s not forget matthews score as many even strength goals as mcdavid had goals in total and matthews only played 73 games and could have scored more goals if he didn’t have surgery on his wrist and missed games at the start of the season
@@davidharripersad2317 There was, but I do believe the Oilers and Leafs make the playoffs without Matthews or McDavid. I don't think the Rangers make it without Shesterkin.
All nominees were well deserving, could've gone any way! McDavid had the 3rd highest point total in the salary cap era, Shesterkin has the 7th highest SVP in league history and Matthews is only the third player to score 60 goals in the salary cap era and first in over a decade.
im so happy for you matty winning the hart for the best fan base in the world you bet your ass we will let you know who won every time you touch the puck
Leafs fans are the laughing stock of the hockey world. Most delusional bunch ever. They should all be medicated on Haldol for thinking the Guinness Book of World Loser Records Leafs are Contenders.
@@tonybleau6219 if you had stuck with players you might have had a point. Writers are a bunch of do nothing losers that dont know anything. McDavid led the ref season in points and most likely will end up leading the playoffs in points as well. Austin, while scoring 60 led his team to yet another first round exit.
@@limegreenpatato Playoffs don't matter in these votes. BOTH the writers and players said it was him. No, you don't know better than they do. Get your head out your ass. Tampa would swept Connie Mcswept just like the Avs did. The only reason you have anything to say is the playoff format cause we both know the Leafs would clapped the Oilers in a series. Stay mad and ignorant.
Congratulations to my boy Auston Matthews for Winning the Ted Lindsay the Hart and the Maurice Rocket Richard throphy all in the same year. Matthews get better then you can add a Cup to the pile of throphys!
Never. Look at all the teams and their top six. None of them are from this Era of the Overpaid Spoiled Brats. These contracts will NEVER; NOT EVER; allow for a championship. You can take that to the bank..
@@mariovallieres3830 I said ruin peoples day bud. Difference between life and day. But whatever floats your boat. Hope you get out of your depression and find some happiness.
I'm guessing his hairline is like it is because he pulled most of his hair out after another first round exit. Or he could be getting into character for possibly playing Gallagherin a movie based on Gallagher
@@cranialtyrant not really everyone comes on this post to make personal insults about players and their families , stay on topic , many people dont like matthews so they make comments about him personally if their player wasnt chosen for the award .. these awards are chosen by the Hockey writers assn , not the public , complain to them , they choose the winners of these awards .
@@northlander4370 You say you aren't bitter, then go on some rant about personal attacks and how to mitigate them. Never once did I make any insults, so take your cape off and put your glasses back on.
He doesn't carry himself well, which is surprising, since his dad doesn't come off as a slob. AM34 needs a haircut, a better fit and at least 30% more personality to look like he's in his 20s still.
@@lukewoodworth2101 So are you fine with the leaf not making the finals since 1967? I think only 3 other teams haven't done that and they are Columbus Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets. All 3 are newer arrivals the the NHL. The Leafs are supposed to be a cornerstone franchise, but instead they are an embarrassment!!
The Ted Lindsay Award is meaningless cause when Gretzky had his highest season ever of 215 points ( 1987) and a plus minus of +71 they gave the Award to Lemieux who had only 141 Points and a plus minus of -8.
@@jeffreykaufmann2867 "They" Why Ted Lindsay is so important: The winner is the one that his peers (NHL players) vote as the MVP. That's why it's so valuable...it means players who play against you, agree you are the best.
@@capitainebonhomme1609 Correction: 215 Points in 1986. Gretzky won it the previous 4 years. Players got tired of the same guy winning it so they gave to Lemieux in 86.
