if he get 15TOI a night and plays the full season i could totally see him getting 30 goals, ontop of that his playmaking is underrated completely, incoming 50-60 point season
They should try putting him with Matthews and Marner or Tavares and Nylander. However, I do want to see Domi play on the same line as Matthews and Marner.
I don't think Berube starts JT as 2nd line center. We need another player to step up. JT is a great 3rd line center, and a well below average 2nd line center.
I think that the 870K and 1 year is as much Robertson testing to see if the Leafs give him the ice-time and role that he deserves as it is the Leafs testing to see how he performs this coming season - as long as they give him the ice-time. I also think he is a decent skater - but it's his shot that I want to see more of (in terms of ice time - not his ability to shoot. Take a look at shot attempts among the top 6 and Robertson and you will see his value). Shot attempts is so important as long as his SOG% is up there - which I believe it is.
He's a good player if he gets some consistent ice time he will score at least 25 goals. Remember Bertuzzi scored 21 goals for 5 million. Think about it Bertuzzi was playing on the top 2 lines. Robertson gets a quarter of the ice time on the 3rd and 4th line.
That's true, however Bertuzzi plays in all three zones and can play with grit. Robertson is going to have to step up different parts of his game because they need more than a one dimensional player.

Thing is, Robertson had zero leverage.. RFA+Injury history+up and down play.. IF he stays healthy, and puts up 50-60 points with around 20-25 goals, hes getting 3.5x2 as a bridge contract next year

He’s only 23 tomorrow. In what way is this walking him to free agency? He’s still an RFA when this deal expires. Getting him signed for any term on the heels of an entire summer of asking to be traded is a win

For a 40 point guy being forced to take a deal under 900k to continue playing in the league I completely get why he wants out of Toronto. He's 22 and is at the point he should be starting to earn big contracts and he isn't allowed because of who drafted him. I can't see him continuing with the Leafs going into another season...
This is also a player who has been injured for the vast majority of his pro career missing months on end multiple seasons in a row. He just hasn't had the time to fill out his frame. The time he has spent rehabbing is when most players are weight gaining and strength training so it's taken him a little longer to get his core stability to the point where he isn't immediately ragdolled on the ice. Unfortunately for Robertson he is still an rfa and won't have much leverage next off-season either. I do hope Robertson at least managed to nab a one way deal. That way he won't have to worry about jumping back and forth between marlies
