Maple learns how to play with Luna 

Maple is nearly twice Luna's size, it's easy to see why the little one is intimidated. Maple is obviously very excited about the new cat, and is trying to learn how to play together. I'm seeing several behaviours from Maple intended to show she's not a threat: sniffing the ground next to her - not because she suddenly discovered an interesting scent, but as a non-threatening activity that doesn't signal fear. Resting on the ground close to Luna, with her head on her paws, to show that she is relaxed and to avoid direct eye contact but still maintain awareness. Scratching the post could be a dominance behaviour, which is fine since Maple is Luna's "senpai" anyway, and it's a pretty non-agressive display. It also doubles as playful behaviour. They still have a way to go, but it looks to me like things are working out pretty well so far.

One thing, you can use your voice, nothing wrong with that. Caution Maple every time she goes crazy.

I know you get a lot of advice here, but I am wondering if you have tried to play with them both at the same time? Start with one of them and then invite the other in the game. Something simple like chasing a feather or something similar. A cat easily becomes friend with a playmate (or with the feeder). So interact with them a bit more if you do not do that outside camera of course.

You can warn and tell Maple to be gentle with Luna. That's fine, talk to your cats ;) Love watching how their relationship goes ,I hope Maple don't go too crazy tho 😄 Luna is sleepy , and tired of much advanture with her crazy sister. She is totaly adorable.

Poor Maple, she gets hissed at by Piko and now Luna. All she wants to do is play. In time this will surely happen but it has to be frustrating. ❤😊

I think they make good progress. When time goes by, they will be more relaxed with each other I guess. Maybe in the end, Piko will be the clear winner, because he is not in focus anymore. Please don't wake up Luna, if she is asleep. She has to endure a lot of stress at the moment and therefore needs a good amount of sleep.

It's good that Maple knows when to back off. She's giving Luna her space and being patient. Hopefully very soon Luna will feel more comfortable and start playing with her, then Maple will finally have the playmate she's been wanting all this time. Piko's probably enjoying every moment of this, having Maple focus her attention on someone else! Lol

Kittens sleep about 16 hours every day, if I remember reading right. So when Luna decides catnap, leave her alone to her kitty-sleep. It's good that Maple is learning when enough is enough.

First of all kitten needs to sleep many hours a day, do not disturb Luna sleeping 😟. You need to provide space for her to get sufficent amount of sleep. This is a must, then there is integrating with others.

No, Maple is not trying to "teach" Luna; she's engaged in aggresive displays of dominance, not play. Be careful you don't end up with a traumatized little Ragdoll kitten. I feel quite badly for Luna; she did not ask to be put in this situation.

I have never seen a kitten so afraid of adult cats before. Maple and Piko are very accepting. Where, may I ask, did you obtain Luna? If she came from a litter that was socialised with other cats she would not be so sensitive or fearful. Was she alone for a long time before you got her? Kittens are usually much more spunky and daring.

Maple is scent-marking the scratching post. This is all dominance behavior. Luna played with the scratching post, so Maple scent-marks it to claim it. Luna drinks from the fountain, Maple stalks her until she moves away and then takes her place at the fountain. They will eventually sort this out, but right now this is not Maple trying to play, this is Maple being kind of a bully.

Please do not disturb Luna sleeping, and make sure she get enough sleep time during the day.
