Okay, this arrangement took me MUCH longer than I had originally wanted, but it's, by far, the best I've ever done, in my opinion. This one arrangement makes me want to record with an actual orchestra so badly since I don't think I did a good job programming the virtual orchestra I have.
Anyhow, I posted the arrangement for the piece "Missing You" fom Ellinia's area on reddit, and a user mentioned Lith Harbor and how they liked the piece.
Naturally I decided to take that up right after.
Unfortunately for me I didn't realize how tough it would be for me, especially since the melody of this piece kinda gets a bit free form a bit later. Essentially, it was harder for me to latch onto its structure as opposed to other pieces. Blegh.
For the arrangement, I actually had a good 30-50 secs of this for its "first draft," but then decided that it wouldn't work out. My goal for doing these is to recapture the sense of adventure I had when I first played the game back when I was younger! So, when I looked back on what I had done I realized it was literally just me rewriting the original piece with the sample library I had with a few touch ups.
That wouldn't do and after making minimal progress, I just scrapped and started producing later in the timeline within Cubase. This was the right decision as the first draft had a "brisk" walking pace feel to it when I wanted a more livelier and energetic approach.
Now this! This is the better result.

For those O.G. Maplers out there (I'm talking Mark of the Beta, or Pre-Big Bang) I want you to picture this as you listen to this arrangement:
"You're leaving Maple Island after you've finished your training with Mai. You've met some allies along the way and you guys all agree to make your way over to Amherst where the boat to head onto the next part of your adventure is located. It's a lot of fun and you realize just how much you've been looking forward to this!
Along the way towards Amherst you realize just how much stronger you've gotten as the enemies are now easily beaten. It's not only you, but there are a lot of others who are eagerly making their way to the pier as well, and in the excitement, you pick up your speed and race there as you don't want to be last, or miss the boat.
Finally, you and your friends make it to Amherst and see the large group there waiting. Everyone is chattering amongst themselves about what they intend to do once they reach Victoria Island. Word has spread about the most renown adventurers back then and it led to which disciplines others would want to take up: the mage, the rogue, the archer, or the warrior. You've already made your decision from the beginning and seeing what powers lay in store for you keeps you motivated. It won't be long until you achieve the next step of your journey.
Finally, you hear the ship horn and the boat's bell ringing out signifying its arrival! It's time to board and head onto the next part of your journey and become the best adventurer out there.
You board the ship and make your way to Lith Harbor.
Now that you're here, the friends you've made mention that where they'll be heading differs from where you'll be going. You hope they keep in touch and that this bittersweet farewell won't be too long, but no one can be sure. In the end, you're just glad you managed to befriend others.
It's time to go."
