Glad you are enjoying working with Easy Marble. Easy Marble can be thoroughly brushed with a waterbased varnish as an isolation coat, after waiting 24 hours for the paint to dry completely. After that, most resins should cover it nicely. Many thanks!
great this is helpful to know so i can use like the Minwax Polycrylic 8-fl oz Satin Water-based Polyurethane or Minwax Water Based Helmsman Spar Urethane,
Yes you CAN epoxy these tumblers! You cannot put the epoxy directly over the Marabu paints or they will run. So, brush on three coats of gloss, Minwax Polycrylic to seal the Marabu paints. Then you can epoxy. I wait 1 hour between each coat of Minwax and do not epoxy till the next day to give the minwax time to set up. So, this is just an FYI to anyone who thinks you cannot
I have found that if you wait about 24 hours after hydro dipping them you wash them with dawn dish soap and it washes the oil away and you can then epoxy them took me wrecking a few tumblers to figure that out but its works great after washing them
You can go to dollar tree and purchase a toilet plugger for 1.00 then just unscrew the stick and you can attach and glue the foam ball to the stick when you do your hydro dipping . It works great !
I tried this yesterday, LOVE IT,,but when I went to swirl with my zip cord all the paint stuck to that, and I also put the whole cup in and I got paint inside the cup and couldn't get it off. But I am glad to find out I can epoxy the cup.. Am i using to cold of a water?
Louise Call I used room temperature water that may or may not make a difference and make sure each time you use the zip tie to clean it so the next use the paint doesn't stick to buildup
Louise Call that is so awesome wish my hobby lobby sold them..I would love to add more colors to my collection without having to order each bottle separate
Rugged Rick Rude the ink are done with resin so there is no need for clear coat with with the marbling after it sits a few days I learned I needed to wash it with dawn and can add resin to it and seal it in I use FDA approved resin
The Crafty Krab you can use alcohol inks on the cup first and allow the inks to dry in the pattern you want, then when you add the resin the colors will not run...there are several different ways to do these cups it just depends on the results your looking for if your using the marbling they don't run at all when adding the resin
Kim Tompkins when I first tried to do the epoxy it didn't work out so well because they had an oil film on them... but if you wash them with dawn and strip that oily film off then they can be done with epoxy
Windmill Apparel & Promotions the only ones that I needed to wash with the dawn is the marabou ink ones that ink has an oil in it but yes after washing with dawn they were able to then be covered with the epoxy with no problems
Purple Crafter I later learned if you wash them with dawn dish soap it cleans the oil from the marbling away and then I was able to be coat with the resin with no problems
After I made this video I learned that you CAN seal them with expoxy after you wash them really well...I was trying to coat them with resin before washing and it was just not working because they had an oil slick feeling to them
