I bought this receiver in March 2020, few days before quarantine was imposed in Perú. Since then, many things ocurred and had no time to thank Phil Hinton for this excellent review that, in the end, convinced me to upgrade my home theater. The Marantz 7013 is just fantastic in its price range. I am completely satisfied with it.
Great review. I picked up the discontinued SR6013 a few weeks ago to replace my old SR7002. So much stuff they’re now putting into these receivers that I’m glad Marantz doesn’t skimp on the sound quality. I have only a 5.1 setup with Def Tech’s. Since the floorstanders have built in powered subs, the receiver has more than enough power to handle everything. The remote’s ok and I agree with your criticisms about it. And, while the porthole display is classy and clean, it’s pretty much useless as the text is so small.
Picked up this fantastic AV to replace my Primare SPA23. Best decision I have made in year's, The music quality is almost as good as the primare. but the sound surround just blows the primare away with a bigger immersive sound stage. 4k upscale is also impressive.

I own this receiver, I was going for a Marantz Pre-Pro but this was on the floor at my local dealer for 50% off out the door, couldn't pass it up, I use it as a processor along with my Emotiva XPA-7 Gen 3 and my Outlaw 5000 for Atmos duty. I've had the reciver for 2+ months and love it so far!
Is the Marantz sr7013 that much of a upgrade or audible difference over the Denon avrx4500h? I know that Marantz uses the hdam chips , just wondering if it justifies the $700 price increase ? Thank you
Thanks for your review on the SR7013 I come from Denon AVR3806 > Sony STR-DN1080 > Yamaha RX-V677 > Onkyo TX-NR737. I bought the SR6014 two days ago and the sound is better than other AVRs so far (on my ears). BUT, I have a major issue with SR6014 which makes me think about returning it. The issue is that... when I press the button to play the audio files (mp3, FLAC, WMA etc) in Windows10 OS (in a PC) the SR6014 produces the sound (of any songs) half volume at the start (about 0.5 seconds) and then produce the sound at the designated volume till the end. For example, A song starts with two times of beating a drum. I am expecting to hear the two times of beating sound at full volume but the SR6014 produces the sound of the first beat at half volume and the second beat at full volume. It seems that the SR6014 has a built-in mechanism to protect speakers or amp circuit by reducing the burst of impulse on electric power. I haven't changed any other variables other than the AVR. The PC, speakers, cables have remained as with other AVRs. All other AVRs are (were) working all right - two strong full volume beatings. I can bear with it when I listening to songs (or music) which start softly. But I am annoyed to miss the impact of songs (or music) which start vigorously. Did I get a lemon? or Am I missing something? or Is SR6014 meant to be? Please enlighten me (my ignorance).

Hi! I am currently using one Denon 4500 with B&W 603 Floor-standers and HTM6 Center. I am planning to setup another with the same set of speaker models. But I am little confused this time to choose the AV receiver. I have shortlisted the Marantz 7013 OR the Denon 6500. I will be using 5.2.4 spks. HELP AVFORUMS! The signal coming into my Marantz SR7011 receiver shows sound as multi in + neural x and the signal as pcm, when I hit the info button on my remote. My source content is coming from amazon prime and youtube using an nvidia shield tv. I'm try to playback the content in Dolby Atmos. My tv is an Lg c8 oled connected to the Marantz via an hdmi cable.
Hi! In the "ARC" port says only ARC, not eARC. How do you know is eARC compatible? The Marantz 6015 it does say" ARC and eARC. Could you explain, please? Thank you.
About to hook up my new 7013 in my home theater. I'm confused though. It has outs for 4 height speakers I'll be using to hook up my ceiling ATMOS speakers. So all tolled I have all the speaker outs being used. Why is it that everyone is saying you need to add a pre amp like the AV 7705 to use ALL the speaker outs. I noticed there are little caps covering the height speaker holes. Can anyone tell me if I'm screwed. lol

I have the SR 5012 I bought in 220 v country. Now I am back in US. Any suggestions how I use it with 110 v power outlet? Dose Marantz help to convert? Thanks
Marks Man I had a similar problem.. had to sell my old amp. Spoke with Marantz and they dont/cant change out the transformer. You can use a step up/down transformer only if the amp supports a 50/60hz power input - mostly they dont. The voltage is relatively easy to convert but the frequency not. You need a very good transformer too, you wont be the first to blow your amp by doing this. That said - it can work, but its vert far from ideal
I'm not really sure I follow your question, but if you haven't heard a fully immersive surround system yet, you really should as it can create some stunning effects and atmosphere with your movies that are mixed that way.
Hi, This Marantz will handle my Opticon 6 ? At the moment I have Yamaha rx-a1070 and I’m so disappointed. I’m looking for some beefy amp, and this one tick all the boxes.
They are both excellent, it just comes down to personal preferences. I personally like Marantz, I proudly own some of their audio components and the sound quality is rich, smooth and detailed. For their price, very hard to beat!!
it's common knowledge for a while now that manufacturers fudge numbers to make things sound "better" than they really are, the masses don't complain and let them get away with it so nothing ever changes
How I hate these binding posts that will not accept spades. I get why all the manufacturers are doing that, but I know how to avoid shorts, so please stop trying to protect me from myself.
@@MrBrosan989 It will not. It has been said by Marantz multiple times. Only sr6013, sr7013, sr8012, av7705 and av8805 and above (a.k.a. upcoming models) will have imax enhanced. Quote from official marantz statement : "There will be no firmware update to support IMAX Enhanced on older Marantz AVRs". I personally bought a sr7012 recently for £849 and it is amazing. I saw some imax demos and i am not impressed, it is the same old hdr and image quality (with imax image size that we had in blu-rays for ages) with a new name. Do not buy into the whole "better image quality" for now. Maybe down the line it might get better but as it stands now there is very little to no difference.
@The Insufferable Tool I believe Marantz has a 70% power promise. Meaning you will get at least 70% of the 2 channel power rating into 5 channels driven.
