My Marathon training this week.
I started the week well and stuck to my training plan of 2 runs each around 6 miles spread in the week. On Friday I did a negative split run where I started slow and easy and went faster towards the end, I did this to simulate what it would feel like of during the marathon I wanted to push for the last few miles, it felt good but I was practicing on a 6 miles training run, I know it will feel very different on a marathon.
On Sunday I had registered for the four villages half marathon, it was my first long run event. I’d previously done a 10 km about 2 years ago but never done anything like 13 miles. I didn’t have a target time in mind, my only goal was to try my best and do it without stopping. I DID IT…. all without stopping apart from 5 seconds while a took a selfie with a few miles markers. I was very pleased as I managed to do it in exactly 2 hours to the second as per the chip time at the event, My Garmin was read 13.2 in 1 hour 59 mins and 28secs.
Tuesday 5.6 miles
Friday 4.5 miles
Sunday 13.1 Four villages half marathon
Total Run 23.2 miles
