I was locked up with someone from Maravilla while my daughter was being born. I will always remember him bc he would constantly check up on me to see if my daughter had been born. When she was he came and gave me a hug then told the whole pod “Everyone this guy just became a dad.” He helped me through one of the most difficult times in my life.
Great interviewee... Got lots of love for Lopez Maravilla... Played football with the grandson of someone important... While at a family gathering some of the younger homies were riding by on their bikes trying to stare me down and or intimidate me (I'm black) ... I wasn't tripping cause my boy was with me and he said he knew them but if they disrespect it's on... All of sudden the grandfather walks out the front door and approaches the young dudes... He said something in Spanish and they sorta out their heads down turned and rode off... As he walked back by me he said, " mijo you go and do whatever you want over here then patted me on the head while smiling... I asked my boy what did your grandfather say he said my grandfather told them that if there's a fucking issue that happens with me or his grandson that this would be the last day they ride their bikes up and down the block or something to that effect... I learned early in the south side of culture respect goes a long way in a lot of their issues with blacks a lot of times came from just blatant disrespect and trust me as a black man I know it we do it to each other even worse black men will never have the power it wants to until he and she give way more respect to one another..
