Drew and Cathy what an awesome marble day walking in cold water and ice. My favorite was the fully intact insulator. So happy you were able to get out mudlarking.👍👏😀

Hi There! We got out a few times, while the water was still low (rivers are high again now 😦). So more vids on the way! We were amazed to find that entire porcelain insulator set-up! But Drew likes his Charlie McCarthy 🥄 the best! 😄. You never know what a marble hunt will produce. On the other hand... I went metal detecting last week and accidentally dug a marble! 😍 (You may or may not remember me doing that once before Lol I will take them anywhere I get them! 😁) At least it's finally getting warmer out now! -Cathy 💮🐦🌞💖🙂😎👍

Hi Cynthia! We had several great days finding marbles (and what-nots) in the river past few weeks. More vids to come! Glad we went, despite the cold, cuz now we are getting the rain again? ☔🙄 That's ok, the river is being restocked! BTW, that spoon was our fav find too! -Cathy (& Drew) 👋😃😎👍

Hi there Drew & Kathy, it looks like someone is always losing their marbles 😂😂😂 You usually find most of them! They are beautiful colors, but my favorites are those that have the white running through them. Like the one Drew found clear with white running through it. They remind me of snow storms or blizzards. I could look at them all day! Wonderful work getting all of those marbles! The Spoons are brilliant finds, I have never seen them before. I do have many spoons from my mother in-law that she bought from her travels. Fun… that insulator is bigger than you Kathy what will you do with it? You both always find some interesting things! Have a wonderful Sunday ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💜
@massriverpickers
@massriverpickers 7 месяцев назад
Hi Susan! 👋😃 Yes, Drew's clear marble with all the bubbles is definitely a favorite! Just goes to show that bright, flashy colors are not necessarily what makes a marble beautiful! That marble is in great condition too! Almost looks like galaxies in there! Drew loves his Charlie McCarthy 🥄 . I told earlier in the comments: Once Drew had to phone a Mr. McCarthy for his work. He accidentally addressed him as "Charlie" McCarthy (but his first name wasn't Charlie!) So Drew basically called him a "dummy"🤣. So how appropriate Drew found that spoon! The "detective" version is less common. I have no idea where that huge insulator is going 🙄. Anyway, we went back there a few times, so more vids are on the way! You have a great Sunday too! -Cathy (& Drew 😴)

As much as I love the marbles, Kathy, I'm crazy about that insulator!!! The colors are amazing!!! I've always wanted to start an insulator collection, but an insulator that's $5 in New England, is $60 in Washington state!!! The antique stores prices here are ridiculous. Thanks for bringing us along!!!
@massriverpickers
@massriverpickers 7 месяцев назад
Yes! That insulator.. not only is it so complete, with its multi-parts, but it has no damage! We find lots of broken ones there, so we were quite happy to find this one. It is not particularly rare or valuable, but it was a nice find! Interesting that insulators' values differs so much, coast to coast, but shipping something that heavy is a killer! Now we just need a place to put it.🤔😎

Hello Cathy and Drew. What a awesome video and finds you found in the river on that day. So many nice Marbles and to bad some were damaged. Lew and I like the Character spoon you found and that is such a wonderful find. 🙂It was mentioned on a comment on here that the insulator you found can sell as low as five bucks in Mass & New England, but a lot of those type start 50 dollars and over 100 dollars. I agree on what they wrote on here about those prices. I did look up some of those on line and E.bay and that is the values and prices are that I found. Lew and I don't collect the really big ones like that and they just take up so much space. We hope you can go digging soon in the same low tide beach area, dump spot you guys have been going to. Lew and I hope to dig soon or do some mud larking soon. It has been warming up quite a bit. We are looking forward to watching more of your videos. Take care and happy hunting to the both of you. ---Jeffrey Hull Jr. (Jeff & son Lew)

Hi Jeff & Lew, These finds are still the result of all last year's record rainfall. We waited sooo long to go back here. No bottles this time, but the insulator is really nice! Not a particularly rare one (like the Victor was) but rare to find one that complete. We're not sure where we're going to put it though. Lol 🤔 Good things about marbles.. they don't take up much space! Glad we went back a few times, when we could. The rivers are high again now, with more rain on the way. Went metal detecting instead yesterday.. (and dug up a marble! 😄) Best to you both! -Cathy & Drew 👋😃😎👍

@@massriverpickers Thank you so much! I just checked it. No initials or makers mark that I can see. What's the best way to clean it? There are some scorching on the outside. Also, the leaves look kind of like a lotes flower?
@massriverpickers
@massriverpickers 7 месяцев назад
@@angelamillard6418 Hi Angela, I would not use anything acidic or abrasive (nothing rougher than a toothbrush, or nail brush) and no vinegar or bleach! Just a little soapy water. The soap will lubricate. Better to have some scorching/black on the pipe, than to remove pipe surface in an attempt to clean it. I am amazed at how the "black" pipes found on the Thames foreshore, (by Nicola White and others) just magically turn bright white hours after being removed from the mud! That doesn't happen over here. ☹️ I'm sorry I don't have a better answer. Also, be careful scrubbing pipe stems while still wet and soft. You want to preserve the maker's name and /or country of origin. I find that the pipe clay can be quite soft, if it has already been deteriorating some, due to ground conditions or salt water. Side-lighting with a bright flashlight can help you read somewhat worn lettering. You should look again, for more pipes in that same area, from time to time, and upstream (if in a river). Where there are pipe bowls, there is usually a dump site nearby. I hope this helps. -Cathy🙂💖

Hi Cathy and Drew, what an amazing haul! All those marbles! I love the character spoon, I thought it would be an Apostle spoon at first but Charlie McCarthy is even better. The insulator is a beauty but I wouldn't have wanted to carry it either, it looks really heavy. I hope all is well with you both 😃💖x

Hi Amanda! (I dozed off a bit here Lol) All is well here. Although I have seen people finding the Apostle spoons in videos, we have never found one. Funny story... Drew had to phone someone for his work, last name McCarthy... He accidentally addressed him as "Charlie" McCarthy (his name wasn't Charlie) Talk about calling someone a "dummy" 🤣 Something else amusing.. I went metal detecting today, and found a marble!! 😃 It was probably the best find of the day. Yes, the insulator is extremely heavy! But it is the most complete one we have ever found! (Now where will we put it?🤔) Hope all is well, and you are progressing every day. The 🙏 will keep coming! 🙏💖

Rivers are high again. 🙄 Oh well. That's why we went out when we did... Ice and all! The marble metal detecting haha, not the first time it's happened, but not often.. and it's a beauty! 😃👍 I will get around to the metal detecting vids soon (while the river is high). Hi There! This spot is great for marbles, but bottle finds here are not as frequent, or as old as we'd like (usually). But the insulator kinda made up for it! No, unfortunately, we have not been to that area at all. You may want to check out videos (Aquachigger has done some Maine coast relic hunting for example).
