My dad has been the Dentist for the Eagles for about 30 years now and to this day he still says that Fleury is the nicest player he’s ever interacted with
MAF is the greatest goalie and human being God ever created(other than my mom of course) He has the heart of an angel and shares it daily. I have been a fan since the CBSE days. Nova Scotia loves you, Flower. #FleuryForever
@@shanebernardfaulkner3574 nah... Brodeur flourished because of that trap defense. He was facing less than 20 shots per game in that system and he had Stevens/ Niedermayer in front of him. Brodeur was a great goalie but IMO Roy was better and Hasek was slightly better than both of them.
Fleury doesn't even mean flower (more like 'flowery' but even then it's not written with a y. Like if a player's name was Floweri instead of Flowery in english). Lafleur literally translates to "the flower."
I love this man so much. He’s the reason why I watch hockey. I’ll be completely crushed when he retires and probably never watch hockey again. The lights will have gone out. 😪
This is so sweet. Flower is the reason I want Vegas to do well but I really hope he comes back and retires as a Pen. I miss him in Pittsburgh Black and Gold
Obviously he was in Pitt for a long time but he has been making a home in Vegas and embracing all of the appreciation to have the honor of him being here.
@@Driberif1 All Pens fans are elated he's succeeding in Las Vegas. We were rooting hard for you guys 2 years ago. It's easy to like Fleury. As classy as they come. I'd love to see him win 1 more Cup. Retire as a Pen, then wait for the call.
He met his future wife when he lived with his billet family. She lived down the street and he liked her but was too shy to talk to her so somebody else had to talk to her for him. So cute. Can you see him as a shy teen trying to talk to a girl?
He looked so shy as a kid, and apparently after going down a division once as a kid he started vomiting on the bench out of anxiety 🥺 poor guy didn’t want to make a fuss
lol i was 3-4 years old when he was on our team and some of my earliest memories is my bigger sister being obsessed with Fleury and every house he stayed at. we thought he stayed at a house like a 2 min drive away but it turned out he literally stayed at a house a street over from us. small world.
4:05 they actually bought their tickets themselves!!! After travelling thousands of miles. So, they really wanted to surprise him. Classy people… Great example for supporting young professionals. Inspiring me…
that shows u dont know people in the league lol. When they set tickets aside for you its sent to that booth and you give your name to pick the tickets up.
My favorite goalie and the one who made me want to play a little of it back when the local Salvation Army here in NC had a street hockey league. It'll be a sad day for me when he retires
Was so confused and scrolling back in the video numerous times to try to find a title under the mom and now I finally realized these were his *BILLET* parents lol
Hats off to his parents!!!! MAF is great goalie and a much better Human being! Building playground in Pittsburgh on his way outta town. The way he handled himself after getting injured and losing his job not many people on this planet could've done that!
My wife and I were at a Vegas game in November 2018 talk about noisy, I was more than surprised at the amount of locals at the game Fleury is their fantasy mayor.
@@mpuchar5003 That's why you didn't hear that much resistance when they had to expose him to the expansion draft. Smart fans knew they couldn't financially keep him on board. Isn't it ironic that the salary cap, that is supposed to help teams like Pittsburgh, is what may deter this team from competing for another Cup.
Met and talked to Fleury multiple times. For many hours, with the "fancy people" lol. Behind the rope of a local Pittsburgh nightclub. I can agree. Marc Andre Fleury in no way. Comes off as a famous, wealthy, young athlete. He was by far the nicest of the guys that were ever there. Nice to the point that he was shy or embarrassed that people knew who he was. If you need a point of reference. Or think I'm just a fan and would say that about anyone. Sidney Crosby told me to shut up one night. Lol. But I was being rude... So I probably deserved it.. Lol But now looking back. That's a nice memory too. How often does someone get told that. By a generations Wayne Gretzky? So in different ways. They are both good memories. Haha. But yes. Marc Andre was absolutely as nice or nicer. On multiple occasions as everyone ever says. His parents should be very proud.
It must be very hard for a Quebecois to leave his family and pursue his dreams in a place outside the French-speaking part of Canada...Appreciate that!
@@mreddyfeelgood He just wanted to play more organized hockey ? Do You know how much You learn to live with an Non Speaking Family ! Mario Lemieux & Jaromir Jagr & Jari Kurri / Never Did & Look where They are Now !
@@nickburton7897umm gee i dunno, maybe bcuz thts where he plays now and his hockey parents went to see him play in las vegas, where theres also lots of other things to do...
They are host families for athletes coming from a different region to play hockey. Say his family it's from Vancouver, but he was drafted to play in Toronto. He'd be set up with a host family to contractually provide a home, food, support, and bring him to the games in a safe environment. It's a very common thing in junior hockey.
I understand keeping Murray was better for the pens financially, but look at them now might not be able to keep Murray now. My opinion would of been keep fluery let Murray walk and restructure his contract. Cause I'm sure like Crosby and Malkin did I'm sure fluery would of done the same thing. Especially now the fluery isnt in Pittsburgh Murray looks average, while fluery is still dominating.
