I played this album to death when I got it back around '94. My brother was about 11 at the time and hated going anywhere with my in a car, because I "tortured him with this old foggy music". Well... he's 40 now, and has lived through one combat tour, the birth of his two kids, the death of our father, and a lot of life in between. I get a text from him the other night with a link to this song. Tells me he's been listing to the whole album, and a bunch of other music I used to play when he was young. Says he can't believe he never got how powerful these songs were. I told him, "sometimes you just got to live a little before you have anything in you for a song to resonate with". So keep it going Marc, still making new fans.
My parents owned a bowling alley (in Queens,NY during the 70s) and this song is so on target about the heavy load a family carries when trying to make a go of it. Unfortunately a local gang put an end to their dreams by torching the place when my parents refused to drop charges after a failed robbery attempt.
