That NY article was written clearly out of spite. MJ proved himself as a designer over the years creating trends and fashion that bought by billions around the globe. The fact that his own brand is not doing well, doesn't mean that he is not good at his craft. Many great designers are simply not good in economics, Saint Laurent for example who had Pierre Berge to deal with the shady sides of the fashion industry. Marc Jacobs WILL ALWAYS BE one of our TOP favs no matter what. We love you MARC! 💓
@@BookstrawBusiness Seems odd to say but his last collection for LV still exists in my mind. The black decor, the big feathered head pieces, the simple jeans in contrast with the expensive head pieces, the overall sadness for his departure....all that resonated a lot. Of course there is the FW 11/12 collection & SS 2008 that stand out for me. What about you?
@@petzezos I must say I love when he makes his shoes theatrical, he’s definitely pioneering in that regards. I really liked Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2012
Marc will come back. He has the talents! There are times when our destiny doesn’t ride so smooth. I certainly have the same situation although I am not in the same industry. We should encourage Marc to come back!
What went wrong? Probably nothing. His titular line was mid at best, wildly overrated and wildly overpriced. His problem is that people got wise to the fact that he was all branding and no substance. The emperor was naked.
People forgot the original plan when Marc Jacobs left Louis Vuitton. It's to position it for an IPO by mimicking the Michael Kors business model. At that time, MK is already a billion dollar business selling cheap bags and Shoes through its Michael Michael Kors line while still showing high end fashion collections. It already is publicly traded. That was their plan. What was weird to me was that they announced new creative directors for MMJ but then shut it down after. Maybe it was to further solidify the MK-lite thing.
I completely agree with what you said about Marc Jacobs. I was born in 1992, and I remember him as a child when he was Louis Vuitton 'S D.A When he left in 2013, he began to lost himself fashionly speaking and also perhaps with his mental health 😂 Keep going, shout out from Geneva, Switzerland 🌟
Marc signed a 16 years service contract to the big luxury brand that is Louis Vuttion. He shelved his street killer instinct for fashion and grown out of fashion. Getting back is very painful like getting off drugs. If Marc wants it badly , it will take time. And live in New York City again where fashion trend are created and battle ground are fought. He will be back in five to 10 years. cheers.
I worked in The Candle Bar in NYC during the 80's. Marc would hang out there occasionally, and I got to talk to him many times over the years. He was a great guy and I always enjoyed our conversations, however brief. Marc never pulled the " do you know who I am" bullshit. He never expected any special treatment. A stand up man....I miss him.
he dont have to be on the spot to sale. everyone have his moment to establish the brand and he is long ago there. All this brands like balenguapa have some time now but will be forgotten soon.
