DOPE interview....and precisely why I fuks with Marc Lamont Hill...crazy to jump from talking about social movement to the same ol' typa hip hop debates we've had as we experienced hip hop growing up...was telling my shorty the other day...would def love to have a beer with this dude....proud of his success and prominence and voice as a young black intellectual....but more importantly as a young black man who is strong in thought, compassion, fight, etc.... this interview is 4 yrs, old, but he still going strong and representing to the fullest....
Great Interview plenty of knowledge to be taken in, but how TF can you talk about top 5 and not mention 2pac in the conversation at all??? I really don't get it
Marc seems very clear in his opinions, & where he stands on every issue. It's nice to at least know where a person is at, wether I agree with them or not. Personally, I often find myself understanding both sides of an issue, I understand why each side feels the way they do, & I don't always see why one belief system overrides the other. To me, they both represent two sides of the same coin. I think this comes from not usually trusting the information that's provided, in order for me to make a sound judgment. The facts change depending on who you ask, & what thier agenda is.
However due to the no snitching policy in a lot of inner city areas, there are a lot of unsolved murders. Not everybody is held accountable as people like to think. I get the idea of accountability but unsolved murders are in large numbers for a reason!!!!
Marc is a bit of a flower child when it comes to the reality of human behavior. Would you call a person with a heart full of hate mentally ill? Marc also is not a God fearing man so his rationale is always humanistic. Thing is humans are not the final authority in the grand scheme. Meaning what God condemns Marc defends and who do you think is gonna win that conflict? Not Marc! But I love that brothers mind. His top five is totally biased. Biggie had the total rap package. How can you love Nas and not Big? They both possess the same ingredient that separates them from the pack. ( You really gotta know music to understand Big and most people don’t). Play verse one of “ Unbelievable” and tell me what the time signatures are being used. You can stop at “ Mad tricks up the sleeve” and then review. Tip:: convert every word/syllable into a snare hit and you’ll get the answer. Big was the absolute king of flow. Nobody even comes close! ( maybe Rakim). It was effortless like breathing. Biggie made a three word anthem just goofin around… “ WHERE BROOKLYN AT”.

I'm so glad he said Obama's presidency was overrated. I've been saying that. Is Obama a good president? Yes. Should Obama have done more for the black community specifically? No question. This guy is saying because Wall Street is doing better under Obama, his presidency was a success. I'm not worried about rich white folks, I'm concerned about poor black folks. I'm so glad Marc Lamont Hill pointed out the fact that the black community is really no better under Obama than any other president. Trayvon Martin, Mike Brown, Sandra Bland, Eric Garner, Alton Sterling, etc. all happened under Obama. Police brutality actually got worse under Obama and he did nothing about it.

Phenomenal interview. Marc is insanely intelligent, and it’s throwing Vlad off big time. He’s used to interviewing people with street smarts not necessarily common sense and book smarts and it shows big time. Vlad sounds dumb on some of his points against Marc’s.
Yeah, he could run for the Senate and then move onto president. He sounds like Obama when he talks. Guys like this should be around the power table in the Senate looking out for the little guy.

Marc’s logic is inconsistent and nonsense. Please show us the report that says ppl are likely to do more wrong where there is stif punishment on crime. Speed camera is the reason why ppl slow down in certain areas where overspeeding is discouraged. Less or no punishment for crimes is the reason many continue to go to jail and come back and commit same crime again. The point should be advocating for more thorough investigation before convicting ppl. A known killer like those cited by Vlad cannot be wrongfully convicted.

What a great interview. I appreciate Marc Lamont Hill more and more with every interview that I see of him. I can relate to almost every of his arguments and to his view of life in general. In this particular interview I like the challenging questions and topics by the interviewer. Great job.
Marc is saying some good stuff. But at the end when you start talking about Young Thug and Kanye wearing women's clothing, he's missing the whole point of what Eddie Griffin is stating that these guys are being encouraged to encourage others to do what they do. More than 90% of the population are followers to a point.
