Known of Marc since mid - late 90s at least at the age of 12 or 13. Younger siblings & I were obsessed w/ Conan’s late night show & i’d timer record the eps on my vcr. Fast forward to 2009, I’m in my late 20s & going no where & checking out new pods. I see Maron’s mug & name & go, “hey, I remember that guy. Let’s see what this is about.” It’s 2024, I’m 40 & have not missed one episode of his podcast.
I miss my 3 cats (they came home with me after the dissolution of my marriage). Even though no one ever told me housecats can get up to 26 lbs and after a lifetime of only having dogs, for 14 years those big balls of love took care of me, let me love them, and always gave me a reason to come home. You tell ‘em past-Marc!
You nailed it on the head with your comment. I've been going down this Conan rabbit hole since 94. The list of celebrities and comedians that thank Conan for his internships, staff, and personal success is astounding. After 30 years, I'm only now realizing Conan might be our century's most underestimated late-night host. I've always had a unique place in my heart for Conan because I did grow up watching him, but I assumed for multiple decades that it was just my friends and me that felt so strongly about him. Johnny has always been the benchmark of greatness, and Conan might have surpassed that under our noses long ago. lol
Damn this is one of the best late night appearances ive ever seen. Crowd was a little up n down, but he had some real gems that made me think of norm. Respect!
I remember Norm asking Marc, "Do you think you're a better comedian or a podcast host?" If I remember right, Marc said comedian and Norm said podcast host. I think I agree with Norm.
Wow Marc, didn't follow you back in 08. Last few years caught your podcast and enjoyed it. Sad to say I shared your sadness with the loss of the kitties he mentioned. Was it you I heard say, we kept these animals and keep them until we decide to kill them. Too sad, to true.
The bits felt a little forced if you ask me. I like when comedians can add them into conversation (even if the conversation is rehearsed) In fact he wasn’t letting Conan speak much at all on account it’d ruin the timing
To think that director guy lost the Oscars gig because he called the production "a bit gay". This has not aged will. You will be cancelled for calling something lame "gay" in 2023
Do you not know how Conan's show works? This is how chats with comedians went. Last thing I wanna do is defend Maron but you can't be so myopic. Also, maybe not start a sentence with "Funny but." Just a suggestion from someone pretending to give a fuck. 😉
