@Black Dog it can't be as heartfelt as Mercury's for sure. Yet, truth be told, Marc's tribute shows a great deal of respect and his voice for a moment brings back the times when Freddy was alive. This one moment alone makes it a worthwile cover. I am grateful to him.
I would LOVE that!!! It's one of my favorites freddy did toward the end of his llfe...I listen to it almost every day..... please Marc do it! Thank you brother.....amazing talent
Dawid Bronowicki Actually I passed on seeing Queen with Adam because it wasn’t the same but I’d go see Marc with them. I like Adam & I know he brings all the flash they want but Marc really brings back the feeling that Freddie is singing it. JMHO
Just the piano arrangement on its own here could stand on its own as a phenomenal song. Absolutely incredible, transformative work--I always liked the original song, but something about the arrangement and the way the synths are used placed it firmly in the mid-80s. Putting all of those instruments into one piano track and adding your own embellishments and changes--this version instead feels timeless. Then you get Marc's incredible take on Freddie's original vocals on top of that? *Simultaneously*? Unbelievable.
@Black Dog well, right now, you're the obnoxious one. If you don't even listen to the videos why do you have to comment? Ignore Martel and ignore his fans. You will be much better
Ich war am 15.09.2024 mit meiner Mutter auf dem Konzert in Bremen. Ich war so hin und weg von den Coversongs, es war als wäre Freddie auf der Bühne. Vielen Danke an Marc Martel der Abend war unvergesslich. ❤
Lyrics ...if you would like to sing along...... There's no time for us. There's no place for us. What is this thing that builds our dreams, yet slips away from us? Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever? There's no chance for us. It's all decided for us. This world has only one sweet moment set aside for us. Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever? Who dares to love forever When love must die? But touch my tears with your lips, Touch my world with your fingertips, And we can have forever, And we can love forever. Forever is our today. Who wants to live forever? Who wants to live forever? Forever is our today. Who waits forever anyway?
I can’t stop crying. I’m on a car park waiting for the love of my life to finish work 2 days before Xmas day. This song digs deep into my soul and makes me feel how lucky I am to have her by my side. Freddie would be so proud Marc. Bless you and merry Xmas 2023.
@@trenae77 every singer is self taught though there are some exceptions, sadly I also wanna sing like this but im full of mucus so im really sad that I cant sing like this
Shreedhar Jajoo he still made songs and the one that I was reminded the most while listening to his amazing tone was Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow. His rasp in the 90’s sounds so similar to Marc now. Even in the 90’s he still did some live performances like Opera. Not to mention the fact that his vocals were healthy again and were amazing like 81 Montreal.
Marc Martel. She sings incredibly like you. Technique from another world. Sevda Alekberzade ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1yBxAsqF5_Q.html
I keep coming back to this for obvious reasons. Sure, no one else sings so like Freddie Mercury as Marc Martell does. But when it's just Marc and the piano, the song takes on another life. It's far more intensely personal. And powerful. This is absolutely beautiful - musical artwork. Marc is a simply a great talent who just happens to sound like Freddie.
I’m so mesmerized by his insanely good piano playing. He has such control, What a talented guy. His voice speaks for itself. Its incredible! I get chills and he sounds so much like Freddie.!
Can we talk about how he nailed the change from Brian's sweet and soft singing voice to Freddie's epic and powerful voice? At the beginning of the song? Like for real!!! I just love this cover so much!!
What makes you different to an impersonator, is your ability to evoke the same emotions as Freddie does. Your piano playing is stunning too. Thank you so much.
The only man on the planet who can sing like Freddie. I saw him live and he gave me chills. I find it hysterical to think that Freddie would channel through a Canadian Christian rock singer! Mr. Martel has an amazing gift. I would see him live again in a heartbeat.
He IS a superstar. He chooses to work independently though, so no record label pushes his talent. He was selling arenas before COVID and will be selling stadiums when some sort if normalcy returns.
You have touched my heart, Marc Martel!! What a fine man you must be to share your voice and beautiful piano talents in a way that uplifts our hearts, makes us breathe a little more deeply, and give many thanks to God. Thank you for paying tribute to a fine singer, Freddie Mercury, but thank you for blessing us with a little piece of you, Mr. Martel.
And when “Marc” first started becoming famous in the US he made a strange comment before performing. He said that he was “72 years old”!! (1946-2018 = 72 years!)
No he's imitating. If you listen to his original songs he still sounds a bit like Freddie, but not anywhere near the scale of when he's singing a Queen song, I mean, his job was literally singing as a Queen tribute band for a few years. He's pretty famous for imitating Freddie and you can even watch as he purposefully juts his jaw or pushes his teeth forward in his mouth to give himself that extra vibrato like Freddie had.
I actually think his singing is coming into its own. here he sounds like he's actually just singing it in his own style, which is very similar to Freddie, but he's not trying to slavishly imitate him. I think it's confidence is such that he's coming into his own, and singing a beautiful song in his own style.
Black Dog, because I believe what Marc Martel says which is that he had his own Christian band and people started to tell him he sounded like Freddie Mercury, whom he had never heard of. Then he got on the queen train and clearly he can make himself sound almost exactly like Freddie on certain songs (such as his one take BoRap.). but I have heard him sound much more like Freddie, so in my mind he is letting himself be a bit more free here and using his voice more in his own individual style. I'm not saying he's perfect at the higher notes. That is neither here nor there.
This song was played at my Dad’s funeral, the family thought it was in bad taste but he made me promise him that I’d get it played for him and I did. I wish I could watch some of your Queen covers with him, he would have loved them.
It's never in bad taste to play what the person who passed wanted to be played. You made the right choice and your dad was smiling in his afterlife thinking about what a great kid you are. I'm 45 and my dad died about 10 yrs ago, he had me late in his life so I didn't get him for a long time. Anytime I watch or listen to something he liked I always see us with a beer in hand on the deck talking about days passed. I'm sure your dad is watching with you as well. ❤
I can’t see that this would be in bad taste for a funeral; it’s the epic cry when we have lost those we love ahead of us and I applaud your dedication to seeing your father’s wishes through.
I love how you switch between emulating Brian's singing and Freddie's singing. I've always wished I could sing the part at 2:27 with that timbre and distortion. You have quite the gift and I'm glad you haven't let it go to waste! Beautiful piano solo as well. Thanks Marc!!
I was listening to the radio that day, the day Freddie died... Everything stopped all of the sudden. I remember where I was, the time it was and how I let myself fall over the bed. It was so weird, my tears were not just falling, they jumped from my eyes. It was such a painfull feeling, like having lost somebody very dear and close, but, I never met him. His impact in lots of people's lives was huge. Thank you Freddie and also, thank you Marc.
Consider me schooled. 😎 Thank you for continuing to share your love of performing. I'm still enjoying every bit of it! Many blessings to you, good sir!
Great vocal. Plus anyone that nails the inflection on "when love must die" always loved the wat Freddie nailed the phrasing on "dieee-ee". Thanks for sharing. 🎤⚡
Wow. I was searching for a cover, that captured the three moments in this song that Freddie made so utterly unattainable... I didn't expect to find it it in a soloist. I actually passed by this version several times, tried Lambert, the Danish Symphony, and a dozen others. The Tenors and Sterling were tantalizingly close to capturing what I needed, Freddie but something new. But the all fell short. Then I listened to Marc and the symphony, and he nailed the vocals, now just the accompaniment was off. So I finally clicked on this. I didn't think a version missing Brian's solos melding with Freddie's vocals would capture the feel. But Jesus, this captures it, and freshens it, elevates it. Marc should be touring with Brian and the boys. Thank you for this.
Marc started performing this as an encore during his tour right before C-19 shut down his schedule. There is something captivating about him playing his own piano accompaniment in a live concert as well.
@BlackQueen29 Ability? You know that this isn't a competition of who can singer in higher notes, right... Hell, even Freddie can't sing high notes live... what's that gotta do with it, Songs have tons of parts than just high ones... We're talking about who can sing Queen songs better
I was 14 when I saw Highlander. Who Wants to Live Forever and Kurgen's Theme impressed me so much that I became an instant Queen fan. I have no idea what Marc Martell's life's ambitions are, but if touching people's hearts and souls with music is one, he is doing well.
Never stop singing, especially Queen songs, and like this Marc. With this passion. It will be always a pleasure to hear you playing piano and singing 💜🙏
He honors Queen and Freddie Mercury's incredible piano everytime he sits down at the keys...TY so much Marc--You and Freddie have a connection- thats for sure, a type of destiny...He will live forever..and partly because of what you do..
One of the most amazing songs ever written! Bravo, Brian May! There is so much pain and longing in that song! What's immortality worth if the love that keeps us going is not eternal? I feel the pain when Marc sings this song. Bravo, Marc Martel!
Yep agreed. Definitely one of Brian's best. I know he wrote it about the sad scene in Highlander but I feel like it's been given a whole new meaning after Freddie's death.
