perfect! I was searching for a way to block out the de la riva and not only did marcelo anwser my question (part 2) . He went into detail on how to keep countering and eventually gaining side mount . Had to keep replyaing this like 3 times at half transitions 😂
Brilliance! So smooth and technical. Wonderful approach to show how to build on the technique and have next steps to take if the earlier ones fail. Love these videos!
Prof Marcelo, the two first movement are great, the third one is not happens when I practice with experts, the reason are, if you want do a raspagem from recovery position should have 3 base or apoio on ground, otherwise the opponent use my strength to rotate me again and come back in the same position. So, the left hand on the leg should goes to the ground and try to come on the top, why he is still holding the leg?Second I avoid to come up inside a possibility of a half guard. So when I turn over, have my left hand on the ground, turn my body with my knees outside his leg and push the opponent with my head on his chest and try side control or just 100 kgs, so try this move and comment after, thanks oss
You could have avoided all this by not giving your leg when you give your leg you give too many options to your opponent you spend unnecessary energy trying to escape de la riva and running the risk of being swept,Rafael Mendes explains this in one of his videos and how to position the legs in situations like this, I have tried myself with great results.
Marcelo would shut it all down and not even end up in position that allow them to get in a more dominant position. same w leg locks. he's so many steps ahead and doesnt even end up in those positions. its wizrdry
How can there possibly be 51 dislikes of this video. Marcelo is an absolute legend of BJJ and if he says something works, you can bet your mortgage upon it. I take it 51 people don't do grappling & thought they were coming to watch a luxury kitchen being installed. 51 dislikes is insane!!
I think there is something you're not understanding. Watching something on video and drilling it with a master of BJJ are not equivalent. I started at10th planet jiu jitsu and all of Eddie's stuff is on the internet - how come when guys in my new school try to do 10thplanet stuff on me it doesn't ever work? How come they know the moves I do from the internet yet they can't defend? because you obtain a certain level of proficiency by drilling it over and over with an expert critiquing you than you ever will watching something on youtube.
+Little Timmy When you share stuff on the internet you make the sport better. It's not about competition , it's about being the best martial artist you can be. Ergo the better your competition is the better you will be.
+David Lomax true. man I see a bunch of people on fb post techniques and they try to pull it off at the gym on the first attempt. I'm like it's not going to work exactly the way you saw in the video unless u practice it a lot. it's not the same.
Marcello techniques are simple. To were they're easy to learn. Making them easy to execute in practice. But if you watch the technique videos everday. That's practice because you need to get it down first. Before you can do it on the mat. Studying jiu jitsu by watching these vids is a type of practice. Physical isn't the only type of training. Building up the skill isn't easy. That takes years of training.
