From March 7, 1982, the infamous "Four corner stall" ACC Tournament championship game between #1 North Carolina and #2 Virginia at the Greensboro Coliseum. Includes halftime feature on Ralph Sampson. Unfortunately, does not include the final minute and 26 seconds. NOTE: The final buzzer and postgame are available elsewhere on RU-vid. Dick Enberg and Al McGuire were on the call for NBC.

Such an exciting time! I was in 9th grade and so much fun on winter Saturday afternoons watching college basketball.

NBC College Basketball Announce teams 1982 National- Dick Enberg/Al McGuire Big East ECAC- Marv Albert/Bucky Waters SEC- Tom Hammond/Joe Dean Big Ten- Bob Costas/Fred Taylor Big Eight- Jay Randolph/Gary Thompson SWC- Frank Fallon/Dan Spika PAC 10- Phil Stone/Lynn Shackelford Many of the NBC/TVS regional broadcasts had more of an NBC feel since they used NBC graphics.

Al McGuire would be right about UNC they would stay in state on their way to the Final 4 and win it all that year.

Since the last 1 min and 26 secs are not here, I'll fill you in: NC won, the fans booed the 4-corner, the NCAA inched closer to a shot clock, and Michael Jordan bought a Chevy.

It's hard to imagine this was considered acceptable at one point.

Dean Smith always wanted a shot clock. He forced the NCAA to implement it. Dean gets nowhere near the credit for the innovation he brought to the game of basketball.
