Some people are willing to pay a little more to avoid a hassle at Wal-Mart. I totally get it. Every time I go to Wal-Mart I just about lose my mind! 1,000 people and 2 registers open...lol!
yes!! Plus here our Walmarts are all super sketchy and some flat out not safe...eep! Our Target is pretty lame though and I can never get how people have such awesome Target hauls...I've had better luck at Big Lots and Dollar General lately lol
A good Stain Remover is called Awesome. You can get it at Dollar Tree. I work in assisted living and it removes all the stains from my clothes, no matter how long the stain has been there.
Cetaphil is the best cleanser. Super affordable. They have it at Costco. We usually get the gentle one. An awesome aesthetician told me that and a face brush is the best
MommaLuvsJava I’ve tried so so many and what works best for me is the Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover and the cethaphil as a makeup remover for the rest of my face. :)
i've been sticking with cerave for my cleanser. they have a hydrating cleanser for normal-dry skin and a foaming cleasner for normal-oily skikn. cetaphil is also a really great brand. both extremely gentle, but effective and won't strip your skin.
I agree, Aldi and Walmart would be so much cheaper for you and you'd be able to stretch your pennies a great deal. Target is so overpriced for groceries...for a lot of stuff in general, actually.
even my supercenter walmart can't manage to keep stock on so many items. if i was shopping for an entire month, i can imagine i'd give up and eventually stop going as well. for my area, target does charge more for a lot of things, but the convenience and reliability in stock are sometimes worth it. if you're within budget, why sweat it?
The best shower cleaner is a DIY! Combine equal parts vinegar and the original blue dawn dish soap in a spray bottle. Swirl the contents to combine - don't shake! Spray on, walk away. Later, rinse. It works better than any commercial cleaner you can buy!
Me and my roommate absolutely love the St. Ives Acne Control Apricot Scrub! As two college student we can definitely say it’s affordable and it works so well, plus you don’t have to use it everyday for it to work! We haven’t had breakouts in months 😁
You should make your own dry shampoo! Cornstarch works great! Add some essential oils if you want a fragrance & apply with a make up brush, I keep mine in a little jar! Also I add cinnamon to mine & it smells lovely! If anyone else is reading this...if you have dark hair like mine mix in some cocoa powder & you’ll never see it applied to your roots! Then when you wash your hair it smells like brownies 😍😂
why dont you use reuseable bags and packaging as opposed to ziplock. they are super expensive for something you throw away. reuseable will earn you your money back in no time!
Target pick up or drive up is stinking amazing! You can place your order and it’s ready in two hours or less! With Kroger, Walmart, etc most times you need to either place your order at the crack of dawn or the day before to get a time slot. I always always use target pick up.
I seen about tomato paste.. I never use a whole can and I saw this somewhere I put the rest in a baggy and flat it out and freeze and when I need paste I just break off what I need.. cool
For a daily facial cleanser i'd say any by cerave. I use the hydrating cleanser but the oily skin cleanser and S/A cleanser are really great too. If you try one of them please update us all on what you think!
Kaboom works great. Spray, let it sit until the purple spray turns white and rinse! I have also used Dawn, white vinegar, and water. Spray and rinse. I tend to prefer that over Kaboom because it's economical.
It may sound weird, but Bar Keeper's Friend works amazing on the bath and shower!! Just pour it on and leave it and the grime will melt away. You can come back and use a scrubber, if it needs extra help, but other than that spray the water on it and it rinses away..so easy, and I don't think it's that unsafe either, and pretty affordable from what I remember. ❤️
I love your channel! You do such a wonderful job of buying good food on a budget. For face wash, I was a long time Clinique face wash lover. $20 for a little 8oz bottle. I started using baby wash you can get a big 40oz bottle for around $5, and it works so good. I doesn't dry your skin it has no fragrance or soap. I also have struggled with cystic acne, and the baby wash has been perfect for my sensitive skin.
Jessica Tripp thanks for the tip. Our daughter is struggling with cystic acne as well. Her dermatologist is trying to Sell her really expensive products!!!!!
I'm gonna try that. I currently use Neutrogena face washes (grapefruit and a lime one I was given) and find they do work but want something cheaper. Will give the baby wash idea a go, and hopefully it goes well!
I understand the not liking Walmart but when it comes to the $$$ Walmart is half the price you are spending at target. Budgeting/Money wise Walmart is the better option. For super low income at least it’s a better option.
CeraVe is the best drugstore cleanser IMO. I buy the off brand at Walmart, not sure if they have an off brand version at Target but it's totally worth it because it lasts awhile and is so gentle.
I love Walmart pick-up!! It you opt in for substitutes... you pay the lesser priced item, a totally refund if their out or they'll give tou double (or more) of another or smaller portioned size! Saves money not grabbing things off the list! ;-)
Tip in tomato paste, but a bug can fit cheaper per ounce and freeze in a cube ice tray, pop out and put in a zip loc bag. We do this for herbs, broths, heavy cream, etc.
Since you don’t have acne don’t use an acne wash, it can actually do the opposite. You probably just need a gentle cleanser. Also my family uses kaboom in our tubs and it works amazing!
I used the Walmart order online and pickup for a recent church order and it was great. Those Target prices are nuts. Like you, I prefer Target for the ambiance, but it's not for frugality.
If you dont use all of the tomato paste, put it in a ziplock bag, flatten it and pop it in the freezer. Then just break off pieces in recipes as needed!!!
Okay I'm just asking if you have a printable grocery list for each month of freezer meals. I'm one of the people who need to know what exactly to buy to make a month of meals....breakfast, lunch, & dinner.
I am happy to report I ran across the Batiste (is that correct spelling) at Grocery Outlet up here in Humboldt, same size can for $3.99! I'm pretty frugal so I thought that was pricy for that skinny can, but seeing you paid $5.99 at Target, now I'm jazzed. I used it for the first time last night before going to The Elks Club for dinner with a friend (and hubby) and her friend and it made my thin, fine, flat hair look better! Also you probably know this, but we buy our zip locks at Costco when they are a coupon item and I think we save about $2 per giant box. It's just the two of us so they last a long time. I think we end up buying about once a year! My daughter and son-in-law in Reno use the Walmart pickup because SIL (a police officer) does not want to go in Walmart! But they really like the pickup service. In fact, when I was over there in November they did a big order, picked it up and I made a bunch of freezer meals for them including breakfast burritos for SIL, lasagna, chicken enchiladas and a beef and bean burrito. They have a small chest freezer that works wonderfully for them. Give DH a hug from me. I know what he goes through.....tough job.
I use the Tilex daily shower cleaner and it works fantastic! Granted only I use my tub, but I only have to do a real deep clean type clean maybe once a month. It really does help it keep that clean! I thought I was doing good nailing down 2 week grocery hauls...dang girl! Rock on! You're so right- learning to be purposeful with your money is key. And even sometimes when you do have more to spend on food a lot of times there are very easy ways to shop cheaper and make your food budget- and your meals- stretch longer. Then it suddenly feels like you have a raise because learning how to spend even, say, $25 less a week on food ads up! Then it makes you think...why am I spending all this just on food that I'll eat once and that's it when there are other things I both need or maybe want that I could use that money on? Like I would never go and buy a blouse full price at $25...but I would spend that much extra without even thinking or realizing it on food a week! And it makes you appreciate the times you can splurge a bit on eating out or making a big special occasion dinner.
I was excited I came under budget today at Aldi; however, I need a couple of veggies which should bring me to the budget amount. I love watching how you stay on budget. It inspires me. I am one person and my budget is $25 per week or $100 per month. It's very tight, but your budget I think is $300 and you are a family of 5 I think.
You should totally download the target app and start using cartwheel! You just scan your items using the app and most of the items are on sale and it will save you so much money!!
My favorite face wash is the cerave hydrating cleanser, target makes a dupe of their regular cleanser which I also love! Also method daily shower spray is amazing.
Watching you go through Target was painful. You are missing so many savings. And going to so many stores there’s no reason to not get them. Are you using cartwheel? Local grocery store can still blow targets prices away.
It's probably better to go to Wal-Mart or Target than to a local grocery store. My local grocery stores are all expensive. Even if I meal plan around the ads there would still be something I'd need to make the recipe that wouldn't be on sale. At least Target/Wal-Mart are pretty low prices on everything.
I agree. I know she said she’s far from an aldi but all of these condiments especially, she can save so much at aldi. She’s supposed to be showing people how to save money but I really don’t recommend these tips to saving money!!
I use soda for caffeine too! 😃 I thought I was the only one!! As I’m not a coffee or tea drinker, I just need a boost some days. (I’ve got 5 kids I need to keep up with! Ah!)
TWO AMAZING recommendations for you!! For foundation, the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hr Breathable Long Wear Foundation is THE BEST!!!! For cleanser, the Cerave Hydrating Facial Cleanser is also THE BEST 😉
You just have to pay attention to the sizes of everything there. Toothpaste for example, the size at the dollar store is less than half than at Target which would make Target cheaper.
I'm confused by your total. Your Costco total alone was a little under $300 but you spent money at Sprouts and Target too. You said that you had $80 left for birthday stuff. Are you not counting Sprouts and Target food in the same budget?
Use a more natural/organic face wash, the harsh chemicals will harm ur skin, make it dry and will lead to oily skin/break outs in the future! A zero waste face wash by Lush is like 9-12 Dollars I think and will last for months
I'm so jealous of your prices on fresh produce! It's so much more expensive here in Indiana. I'm sure it's because all of our produce is probably shipped from California. Ha. I always look forward to your videos! Keep them coming!
For face wash I reccomend the cetaphil face wash. Target makes thier own generic version that isnt too pricey I think $5? It truly is dermatologist recommended (mine reccomended it) and I'm always tempted to try other facewashes because they sound exciting but always end up going back to the cetaphil. All my friends use it too.
Honestly I love clean and clear daily foam cleanser and I use the scrub 3 times a week . It’s cheaper then high end brands and the off brands I feel like are watered down and they break me out and I rarely get acne.
My hubby likes the face wash you got and I like the simple brand face wash. Please tell me you use the cartwheel app at Target it's free and you can save on lots of items. Just scan as you go, then have them scan the app at check out!
I use a daily shower cleaner everyday and I haven’t had to scrub my shower in about six months. I use the Scrubbing bubbles. I tried the method brand, but it didn’t work. I would get grime and mold within a week.
Over $700 for monthly groceries for a family of 5... is a bit ridiculous. If you *actually* couponed or budgeted correctly then you shouldn’t go over $500/month max, regardless of living in CA. Get out of target, go to Walmart instead. Quit buying prepackaged snacks and food at Costco, instead make things from scratch. Use vinegar ($3 for over a gallon @ Costco) & water to clean with rather than “green works” cleaner- it’s likely full of more chemicals than “green” substances.
Id love to do a shopping trip in the US, everything is so cheap compared to Australia. We spend $600 - $700 (australian dollars) a month and we dont get a whole lot. But Aldi is awesome
Everything out here is expensive haha I love produce junction but the closest one for us is 40 minutes one way 😭😭 I can’t wait for it to finally get warm here so we can have our garden and shop from the local farmers
Love your grocery shopping process! Hubby and I did cash envelopes and I totally separated food and nonfood items and everything also, loved it so much! I wish I knew more about freezing. How long would you freeze your meats? The other monthly I got ground turkey on sale but the freeze by date was coming up soon after I purchased it. I tossed it after the freeze by date cause I wasn’t sure 😳
Meats can go about three months I believe. Really, I give my food 6-12 months in my freezer. But they usually don't last that long because I meal plan based off whats in there first!
I love oxi clean stain remover but just a heads up...don’t spray and leave it for too long before putting it in the wash. It ate hopes through my clothes 😭😭😭 although I think it says it on the directions. I made the mistake of not reading it 🤦🏻♀️🤣
The tube of tomato paste is awesome! But be careful, it only lasts about a week in the fridge once opened, I've made that mistake before and been super disappointed!!
I've never bought the tube. Once, I found 2tbsp. pkg at Dollar tree- 4pkg for $1. Also, you can freeze tomato paste in an ice cube tray and then put them in a freezer bag.
Every time I see you buy powdered Ranch mix for $1.79, I die a little inside. I buy the Kroger brand in a 4 pack for $1.99. I would honestly go without it if I had to pay $1.79 each.
Crystal B.- A Texan in AZ that was quite expensive! BJs sells ranch seasoning in a jar which may be something to look for at Costco. I shop at BJs because Costco is too far from me.
I looked a few months ago on the aldi locator and she does about 25 min away. She'd save so much money cause target is not the cheapest for food. I even put the link for her in a comment but she didn't reply. oh well. 😉 lol
@@Sandrashideaway yes I agree especially since she buys store brands often. I love stocking up on meats at Aldi though. They are always having wonderful deals
I'm sure it has to do with the location to her. She has a video of her shopping at Aldi. But some of the stuff she gets at target you can't get at aldi. So why add another store to your shopping to save maybe $10. Also she does amazing job with her grocery budget for a family of 5, so just let her be.
I love shopping at Aldi. It is so much cheaper than Walmart. I do not have a Target so I could not tell you about that. But the only stores I have in my area are Aldi, Walmart, Meijer, and shop n save
I just realized that the prices in your area in the states are not really that much cheaper than what I'm paying here in Kanata which is a West End suburb of Ottawa Ontario Canada. The Kirkland brand toilet paper is 17.99 Canadian which is actually cheaper than what you're paying American. Also the big huge holy guacamole from Costco is about $12.99 Canadian and does go on sale for $10.99 once in awhile so it's basically the same price but since your dollar is 30% cheaper then hours you're actually paying 30% more. I think you just live in a very expensive area. I'm still quite impressed with the amount of food you get for what you spend but our grocery budget for our family of four which does include two teenagers is 8 to $900 a month and that includes toilet paper Etc
