This spring I am using the Spread Machine Cards-Oracle by Kimberly M. Tsan for my readings. I usually do a 5 card spread and draw blindly versus intentionally picking out the cards. I may do 2 or 3 readings a day, just to play with my decks and think about the prompts I've drawn. I'm having a lot of fun with that. As an example, today I drew Manifest, Confront, Karma, Subconscious and Disengage. Each card has additional information below the keyword. I then journal my thoughts based on the tarot card I drew for each keyword. Happy Spring hope you're having a wonderful week.
💚 Ooh I like that! I have never had Spread Machine but I really like the idea and have tried using a few of my oracle decks as ways to generate spread positions.
I love the Great Lakes Oracle 💕 I grew up in MI and don't live there anymore, so it's very nostalgic. I love finding decks tied to places I've lived and loved. So currently on the hunt for Indiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Moving to New Mexico/Colorado soon too. Michigan is always home though.
💚 I got to live in Michigan briefly, three months in Ann Arbor doing research. I grew up just across the border from MI. All the places I've lived very long-term have been in Ontario and not *that* far apart -- where I live now is the Kawarthas which has lots of tiny lakes, and the other two places were both right on Great Lakes. I hope to make an oracle based on where I live now using photography but it'd be a huge project! I need to improve my skills first.
I love your wrap ups ❤ As you know I watched it a few days ago but am just now commenting 🙈 In answer to the personal readings question, I go through phases. There are times when I pull cards every day but they’re never actual in depth readings. I pick decks I want to use because I feel like it and pull a minimum of three cards, but sometimes a message will come up that I’ll want more cards. Sometimes I pull the number of cards for aesthetic purposes. Never use spreads, almost never have questions, I just pull and see what comes up. Sometimes I get a message and sometimes they just look pretty on my table. I always leave them out because I like them there. Sometimes I’m not in a tarot phase and I don’t pull cards at all. I haven’t pulled cards in weeks atm. When I do have a question I’ll pull specifically for that and I have my go to decks. I do that anywhere and at any time. But that is very sporadic.
💜 I love hearing about this! I am a very 'question centric' reader I'd say, so I'm curious about the practice of drawing without questions. Spreads I go either way.
"The romantic part was the least believable on this" saying that following a description of an amorphius being who can shapeshift and put things in her blobby body. That part was so funny. 😂 Again loved your book reviews in here.
💜 I'm currently reading yet another book where the romance is the least believable but also there are supernatural elements. Seriously, what's with the "oh wow, I saw you five minutes ago and now I'm in love" plotlines?! I'm not opposed to a romance but really.
@@aquamarine18 totally with you. Especially when the opposite shows the worst behaviour ever but somehow the main character still falls in love after 5 minutes of an a**hole encounter. And then comes the super believable turn from ahole to angel just because of their relationship/feelings.
I love the Great Lakes Oracle too!! I live blocks from Lake Michigan and it feels like home for me too 🩵 would love to see your zine when it’s done . Such a good idea!!
Happy Belated Birthday! 🎉🎉🎉 I do hope you consider making a video on springtime and refreshing one's practice. I have a script for something similar that was meant to follow the discussion on tarot burnout, but having something as a standalone topic that can be used for a variety of folks in different stages of their practice (not just burnout) could be a fun resource! To answer your question, my practice is still fragmented and inconsistent, averaging about 2-3 times a month at random. I stick to spreads with no more than 2-3 card pulls, and those spreads come from different sources, not from me. The rhythm is very offbeat. 😆
💜 Thank youuu! I will definitely do it but at this rate it might be halfway through spring before I get to it. 😆 I would be interested to hear your thoughts on tarot burnout.
Yes, I want to reread the Parables! I've been wanting to do more rereads in general... I love the timing aspect and I live in CA and am familiar with many of the places cited in the books.
💚 Amazing. I've only visited CA once (Los Angeles mostly) and it was way after I read Parable, so I'll be interested to see this time around if I recognize places. I will make a short video closer to July about the group read.
Also Great Lakes Tarot, does have a small pdf guidebook. I think I still have it if you want a copy? Or Rust Belt Publishing would probably send it on. It's mostly IDing animals and places with maybe a few key words. I still need to make a guidebook for Rust Belt Arcana since that one only covers major arcana 🤦♀️ Love that deck though!
It's on their website! 💚 or, something is - a list of the pairings of animals/plants. That is what I plan to work from. I like knowing who's who but I want to extrapolate some connections between the species and the card; it's an excuse for me to learn them better, especially the fish which I don't know very well at all.
It's funny, when you showed the second oracle deck by Nine Coins, my first thought was "... the final frontier ..." not realizing you also like Star Trek! Anyways, I would definitely be up for rereading Parable of the Sower in July, I was so captivated the first time through (years ago) that I blew through it really quickly, a bad habit of mine. So yes! In. Love the idea!
I am absolutely a full-on Trekker! 💚 I just started the new Discovery season, with decidedly mixed feelings so far. I will post closer to July re: Parable plans.
Interesting video, as always. I'll read Parable of the Sower with you! Butler IS a genius. Zoom bookclub? Discord? That's so nice of you to purchase your friend a tarot deck!
💚 Thank you - these are the things I'm thinking about between now and July. I don't run a discord but I do administer/moderate one and am very familiar with the platform, so starting one would be easy enough. And maybe a Zoom if there is interest could be organized from there. These feel more participatory than a livechat to me.
The Great Lakes Tarot also feels summery to me! I picked up the Great Lakes Oracle at a local shop when I was camping near Sleeping Bear last year, it's lovely. I use both decks when I'm feeling homesick or when I go camping 💚
💚 Sleeping Bear is so beautiful! I didn't get to do as much camping last season as I'd have liked - I hope to do more this year. We're lucky to be very close to a lot of great places to go.
