Thanks Jeff!! You aren't the only one whose tulips didn't do well. Many youtubers have short tulips this year. I think a lot of people are turning away from them. The problem is they're so colorful, colors that daffodils just can't match. I'm waiting to see if the small amount I planted this year bloom like I hoped. We had some good days in Feb that I was able to get some cleanup done, however I still feel behind. I like your plan to do a section at a time. This year it seems like we're always dodging rain.

Great job on the video Jeff! If your trailing lantana does not come back, you could try it in the ground. Most varieties are only hardy down to zone 8-9. That container may not be enough insulation. I'm in San Antonio area and mine comes back each year in the ground. I've never tried it in pots, because they get so massive down here. My trailing purple has gotten 6'+ in diameter the last couple of summers. I'm thinking of booting it for that reason, I don't really have 6' to dedicate to one plant/shrub! 😆

Tulips are my top favorite flower. I am starting to move towards the direction of mostly daffodils and summer snowflakes as they don't require chilling down here in San Antonio. It kills me to not have tulips, but they are so much work. I might try doing smaller pots of them tucked into the garden using inspiration from Claus Dalby. I find they tend to not perform as well if they're planted too closely together and if water isn't as consistent. I think our up and down temperatures also make it much harder on them.
@shesamadgardener

Hey Amanda! Gardening in my Alabama zone 8B, I was also able to overwinter several of my plants. Are you confident in transplanting any of your hardy annuals “snapdragons”, by transplanting I really mean moving locations in the garden?? What do think, or is it too late for us already…? The plants are 18 or so inches tall, and I didn’t cut them back in the fall. Thanks to all for any input. And thank you for you Amanda for your time and the content you share, it nice to know someone that Gardens like me (projects and mess continue, I don’t think a garden is ever finished thankfully…) I admire your courage and perseverance.

When you do a video about chrysanthemums, I'd love it if you could talk about - "how to tell which chrysanthemums will over winter". I tried putting a few in the ground to overwinter, but i guess they were the wrong type and they died. I don't know how to identify the 'right' ones.

@shesamadgardener

This yard was never appropriate for my family’s use due to the drainage issues and the size. My kids are much older and they prefer to play basketball in the front of the house and spend time with their friends in the front as well. My husband and I relax at the table and chairs on my front porch.
