Brackets are Busted. Ohtani Banned? Calipari Out?
**
Segment 1: March Madness round review. Provide bracket group update.
**
First round:
SCAR loses to Oregon 87-73.
The Gamecocks couldn’t stop Jermaine Couisnard and N’faly Dante. They combined for 73 of the Ducks 87 points.
Gamecocks struggled all season with teams with athletic big men.
Gamecocks struggled with zone the Ducks were running and couldn’t get offense really going until late.
Meechie Johnson led the way with 24 points.
CMB showed his youthfulness out there. Did not look comfortable really all game.
Gamecocks finish season 25-6. Lots to build off from this season for Lamont Paris and company.
Oregon’s HC has not lost an opening round game in NCAA tournament.
**
Clemson wins 77-56 over New Mexico.
Impressive win for the Tigers has they struggled coming into conference tournament with early exit but very dominating performance for the Tigers in the opening round.
**
First round upsets:
Kentucky has early exit with 1st round loss to Oakland 80-76.
Jack Gohlke led the way with 32 points. All points came off 3 pointers and 2 free throws. He didn’t attempt a single 2 point shot all game and not many all season.
Kentucky finds themselves in a peculiar situation. Have not advanced out of the opening weekend in 3 years.
Analyst Jay Wright(former Villanova HC) had to essentially say the days of these freshman and one and done players playing against older players, especially with current day of college sports are over.
What does Kentucky do now? Do they move on from Coach Cal? He signed a “lifetime” contract and is owed around 30 million if he is fired. Who does Kentucky go after? Seems Wildcat fans do not like the AD.
**
Colorado upsets Florida 102-100.
Yale beats Auburn 78-76. A lot of people had picked Auburn to win it all.
**
Second round:
Creighton beats Oregon 86-73 in 2OT.
Couisnard & Dante led the Ducks again with combined 60 points of 73 total.
You could tell they both were tired in the overtime periods and Creighton did a good job of finally shutting down Couisnard.

SHOHEI OHTANI NEWS:
His translator was fired by the LA Dodgers and was involved in an illegal gambling scheme out of the state of California.
Now we do not know what the true facts of this case are. A lot of people are speculating and MLB has launched an investigation into this matter.
Do they find a way to clear Ohtani? He is the global face of major league baseball and would put a huge stain on the league.
Apparently the translator has a history of lying. Did he trick Ohtani into paying his gambling debt? Did Ohtani know the entire time?
It centers around a 4.5 million dollar transfer from Ohtani’s bank account to a bookmaking operation that is currently under federal investigation.
Ippei(translator) initially told ESPN that he had a gambling debt and explained how Ohtani sent the money over to help him out. Now, someone from Ohtani’s camp is disputing that interview with ESPN and are claiming it was massive theft.
What is weird is that a Ohtani spokesperson told ESPN that he transferred the funds to cover the gambling debt and has ESPN was about to release the story, Ohtani camp disavowed the translators account and said Ohtani’s lawyer would issue a statement.
We still do not know all of the full facts, but we will continue to provide updates as this is a huge issue.

Have to think about Pete Rose and him being banned forever by MLB.
The way gambling and sports books have a hold on professional and collegiate sports and all the gambling coverage these major networks do.
But athletes gambling is a big no no and one can only wonder what happens next.
