The Lore behind "The Horde"
The Horde originated among the orcish clans on Draenor, a once noble and shamanistic society disrupted by the corrupting influence of the Burning Legion led by Kil'jaeden. Manipulated by the warlock Gul'dan and his Shadow Council, the orcs embraced dark magic and formed the first Horde. They became a relentless war machine, driven by demonic bloodlust, and launched a devastating campaign of conquest across Draenor.
Using the Dark Portal created by Gul'dan, the Horde invaded Azeroth, sparking the First and Second Wars with human kingdoms and other races. Led by ruthless Warchiefs like Blackhand and later Orgrim Doomhammer, the Horde's invasion left lasting scars on Azeroth.
Despite its origins in conquest, the Horde underwent significant cultural and political evolution. Orcs like Thrall, raised by humans, rediscovered their shamanistic heritage and sought a new identity. Under Thrall's leadership, the Horde broke free from demonic influence, establishing alliances with races such as the tauren and Darkspear trolls under Vol'jin. Together, they founded Orgrimmar in Durotar, embracing honor and mutual respect.
The Horde faced internal struggles and external conflicts, including clashes with the Alliance over territory and ideology. Leaders like Sylvanas Windrunner and Garrosh Hellscream, known for aggressive policies, sparked conflicts like the Siege of Orgrimmar and the War of Thorns. These trials tested the Horde's unity and resilience as they navigated their place in Azeroth's tumultuous history.
