I hate how bad they messed up The ending of the phyrexians. Glistening oil Does not need a signal to thrive. If that were the case then the oil on karn would have died off when Old phyrexia Was destroyed And none of this would have happened. In reality all the other planes should Infected Just like mirrodin was And they should have to try and cleanse The land
Yes they had forgot about their own lore. They forgot just what drop of oil can do IE memnark. That is what suppose to make phrexian oil so dangerous. As long as one drop is around phyrexia can come back fully.
elesh norn : pierced by elspeth then torn to shreds jin gataxias : devoured by his own machine sheoldred : decapitated by a phyrexian ajani urubrask : dissasembled by elesh norn vorniclex : decapitated by a member of the zhalfir army
The battle shouldn’t have begun and ended in the same set. There were even 3 arcs within the set. Why not make those each a set and give a wider view of the conflict?
Worst case scenario. Don't know how save your character? Give them a plot armor. Stupid as hell, and the worst plot twist in the entire March of the machine.
@@ghouluoshe8001 Feel bad for anyone who likes phyrexia/arc, but If you know anything about Elspeth's story and lore going into the set, it really was a fit ending for her. Finally getting redemption for herself, family, past planes that she failed to save from Phyrexians. Then becoming what she was always meant to be an Angel.
@@OfficerDva444 And it is a very boring reborn character AGAIN button. That's the problem. The story was about army VS army, and then one stupid girl just got back from the dead for the second time in her life.
so before starting this video, WoC basically gave white their "angel Planeswalker" through this whole block. 🤣 So much more that could of be done but I'll still listen this video because I do enjoy the story for what it is.
The worst thing about this story is that we lost Melira just so we could have Ajani and Nissa(which was totally dumb idea)return, it would be better if Karn gave up his spark to her so she could go around planes trying to cure whatever stayed after phyrexians and here we have catman and hippie(who made released eldrazi and doomed peple of Zendikar to be tormented by roil and killed many rebels) saved. I just hope that the things that they did while being compleated won't be just forgot by others("ah you were controlled nothing happened") and also remember by them and never felt the same(especially because of Jaya.
idk that the phyrexians are gone. sure new phyrexia is gone, and norn's invaders are inert, but jin said that phyrexia has evolved past her. all that is needed is one drop of this evolved oil to be planted like an acorn and a new phyrexia will grow
Awesome video thanks so much for sharing the lore in this way. Loved this arch for Elspeth, her having to choose where to go and not being able to go to New Capenna or Theros was heart breaking but epic. Looking forward to seeing what Aftermarth will bring. So are all the praetors dead now? I wasn't sure exactly what happened to Vorinclex? Maybe I missed that or perhaps its ambiguous?
You FOOLS. You really believe a silly ISP ban will stop the Machine? Well guess what? New Phyrexia just installed NORD VPN. (Code in description for 10% off your order!)
I cannot express how happy I was to be right. For months, amid detractors and and phyrexian sympathizers I said that Ajani would live and be cured. While I was wrong in guessing the means by which he would be saved, I literally cheered when he was restored and celebrated with my friends. I cannot wait to see what they do with him from Aftermath and onward. Thank you so much for these fantastic recaps! I look forward enjoying more stories with you in the future.
I like how the writers try to do the "a phyrexian will just take the place of the leader" cliche and that "assassination isnt a good idea" then killing elesh norn made them all fall apart lmao. What dog shit writing.
Shoutout to Wrenn for having the only coherent character arc through this mess. And the writers killed her off, which I think was actually one of the only consequences that felt emotionally impactful. Sorry not sorry Lukka
They could've skipped the Eyeless story on the first New Capenna, the story for Innistrad, the one for Eldraine. These stories were pointless dead ends and meaningless, easily replaced. Eldraine could've been on the royal family, Innistrad could've been Thalia or Sorin, Capenna could've been Theros. We didn't need two visits to the New Capenna story, only the second one had any purpose I also don't like they came back to Chandra x Nissa after they trashed it and started with Adeline. Chandra's a two timer
Being honest, I preferred the chaotic nature of Phyrexia. Norn and her whole unity thing just don't do it for me. Always found her to be the least interesting of the five New Phyrexian leaders. Jin Gitaxius and Urubrask are my favourite, probably, as they kind of carry Yawgmoths insidious creativity and brilliance
He went off to do whatever and never came back. He noticed it was gonna hit the fan and saved Vraska, but we know nothing of him. He'll come back at some point.
I been here since you start the lore. And I have to say man you have talent and I really hear and feel the luv you have for the lore of mtg... I also like the story's. But I am kinda disappointed with the ending of march of machines Elspeth kill elesh norn by making her angry. Elseh norn went from being a devotion and well around characters of believes with perfection. And now a tynnat full with rage out of the blue... just saying the end could have been better ..
Im more upset that they completely forgot how Glistening Oil works... Elspeth should have let Jace use the Sylex. Phyrexia is the oil, not the otherway around and if it evolved to no longer need Yawgmoth there is no reason it should need Norn. Its the Folgers Coffee of infections: good to the last drop and those planes are dripping in it now.
Fear was why she acted that way. She didn't turn angry out the blue. Elspeth is everything she feared. Elseh Norn was afraid of how much she identified with a fleshling so for Elspeth to be dealt with and come back even stronger and on top of that transformed into something not of her original design, pissed off Norn and fear kicked in. Fear makes ppl do irrational things and the point of fear doing that to Elesh Norn was to show that no matter how perfect, even Phyrexians can feel emotions.
It doesn’t make sense to save Ajani or Nissa. Just let them die. Stories don’t mean anything if you just save all the heroes every time. Make the story mean something for once.
It's like they took the ending story line of Mass Effect 3 and said "stick a chick in it, and make her gay, and lame" 😂. I wish we could just re do this story
@@HappyNoob17YT it definitely feels like a reboot of the Planswalker idea, but this feels more like the aimless pandering / storytelling of Disneys Star Wars than that of a revamped Dune or LOTR. I don't know, Thunder Junction is coming out soon, what do you think?
I know I'm late asking this but... Did anyone ever find out exactly who the planeswalker that died and created the glistening oil was or how it died before planeswalkers got nurfed. All I know is it was a planeswalker attempting to create his own plane and a friend of the planeswalker who was a friend of Urmoth or what ever the father of pherexia was called
We still dont know who it was. Yawgmoth just found the plane and the planeswalker who made the place already dead. So yawgmoth just took over and made the place even better.
Can't believe this is how it ends. I've waited half my life for this conclusion and it felt so small, so rushed. Very disappointing. Still not happy with WotCs continual march for woke-ism. This was supposed to be about the multi-verse, about finally dealing with the Phyrexians and all the main story played second fiddle to Chandra x Nissa? Really that's how it ends being covered up behind Chandra finally kissing Nissa? Just feels so... cheap.
man itd be cool to see a new new phyrexua being led by a ressurected Uradank , and theyre just a chill species , that constantly evolves and also uses it to help others to atone for their race's genocide :D:D:D
@@michellemoore7829 "magic will change forever"... sure thing, bud. I'm so sick of seeing the same 8 people and places over and over in what is literally an infinite setting. The amount of retconing and backwards logic they had to pull just to return the the status quo is vomit inducing. All of those planes should be dealing with a Phrexian infection until the end of time even without Norn or Realmbreacker because the Glistening oil evolved even independantly of Yawgmoth and only needed a drop to become a New Phyrexia.
Norn just being the classic villain, never able to shut up and just end the Heroes haha. I really hope they're gone from magic the gathering forever but I have a sneaky feeling.. Just like the moon on Innistrad and bolas imprisoned there seem to be some loose ends that can spark a new story with these villains. Time will tell! Oh, soon it's dinosaurs! Yay!
@@thewidowskiss7675 yes, she did great. In fact, if her plan was to completely annihilate Phyrexia, binding it in one big PILE of useless metal, she did it perfectly, killing all the "threads" she could to make this happen.
@@thewidowskiss7675 oh yeah, the thing that Norn did everything to lose is not her problem, it's plot. And you know, Nahiri isn't stupid clown, that's just a plot. And Bolas is a weak mere dragon, it's just plot.
