Hello Katie! I'm in awe of all the books you are able to read in a month 🤩. (I'm a very slow reader) I'm currently reading and loving The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton, which is part of a classics readathon or book club by an Italian booktuber (Ilenia Zodiaco), who is as great as you are! I love Pride and Prejudice and this month I bought to read Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. I also can't wait to read everything Dickens. Thank you for all your videos, which are always a pleasure to watch 💛
Hi Katie, I adore your channel, I have watched probably 75% of your content! I am a classic lit lover and historical fiction lover. I have recently read The Eighth Life by Nino Hararishvili! It’s such a sweeping familial tome that covers 5 generations in Georgia in the last century! It blew me away and I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend! Also, as a Canadian, I have to recommend our fantastic author and playwright, Ann-Marie MacDonald and specifically “Fall On Your Knees” and most recently “Fayne”! Both incredible, multi-generational historical fictions that are so powerfully and beautifully written! Would love to hear what you have to say about them! Happy reading ❤
Pride and Prejudice is my ultimate comfort read/listen. I have terrible insomnia. Listening to a few chapters calms me and allows me to sleep. As a fellow migraine sufferer, I’ll tell you something you probably already know. Magnesium is brilliant. Taken in tablet form or in Epsom salts bath. Cuddy is on my TBR. The real life priest who inspired My Fathers House ; is now to get a memorial plaque in Cork. My best books of March Solider Sailor by Claire Kilroy Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Haworth ( LGBTQI) Enter Ghost by Isabella Hammad ( I think it’s going to win the Womens Prize) Stone Yard Devotional by Charolette Wood Fayne by AnnMarie MacDonald ( narrated by brilliant voice actor) Strong Female Character by Fern Brady ( Scottish comedian talks about her late diagnosis of autism) ☘️👋🍀📖📚📕☕️🇮🇪💐
I am religious(well sort of 😁). Whatever about Julian of Norwich if I had 14 kids like that other lady I'd start to have visions too!!! Looking forward to your Little Dorrit review!
Just found your channel and appreciate your takes on books I’ve read which makes me trust your suggestions for those I have not. I had to slow you down to .75 speed though.
My video is already slowed to .85 speed, so you're actually watching me even slower. Sorry, I know I speak very quickly, but I just can't help it. I've been trying for years!
My favorite read for March was a Katherine Center novel, The Bodyguard. I have also lost track of how many times I have read Pride and Prejudice! I love Jane Austen and reread all of her novels often.
The last time I read Pride and Prejudice, I relistened to it and Persuasion two years ago when I had a concussion and I was not allowed to do anything. Austen is a wonderful companion to pain.
I really like Maugham but I haven't read that one. I would recommend The Moon and Sixpence if you want to check out more by him. The House of Doors sounds interesting to me.
I also keep coming back to Jane Austen. I love her sharp mind and her wit. Its such a comfort read. My late grandmother loved her novels too. Whenever I read Jane Austen it always brings back fond memories of my Grannie. Greetings from Germany.
I really liked The Little Stranger and definitely feel like it'll be even better on reread. Now that you've read all of Sarah Waters books, which is your favorite and least favorite?
I have long had both The House of Doors and Leaned by Heart on my list, so it was wonderful to hear your thoughts. (I read Lister because of a Victober prompt, even though it isn’t a perfect time fit.) For Thy Great Pain sounds fascinating!
I’m so glad I loved the maiden and that was one of my favourite books of the month. I have heard mixed reviews on learnt by heart so I’m glad you enjoyed it
I've just read Learned by Heart and enjoyed it immensely. I didn't expect much, perhaps because many reviews on Booktube were lukewarm. But I fully agree with you that the depiction of Anne Lister is so accurate to what shows through her own writing in her diaries. And I never thought I would enjoy the Author's Note, I had no idea Helen Whitbread's work had such an impact on Emma Donoghue. I very much want to read another of the latest from Emma Donoghue - Haven. Just watched her discussing it in an interview with Colm Toibin. Seems to be another stunner.
Yes I need to read Haven sometime, too! I can imagine that Learned by Heart is less impactful if you don't know much about Anne Lister, but I really loved it.
