3 body problem tv series was like This Life (90s soap) with bits of scifi summary thrown in for continuity. I thought it was unbelievably bad. Stand out awful were the parts set in 60s China. The actress is all looking out from under her eyebrows with stoic defiance, whereas the in Chinese version she's often terrified, as one's bound to be.
I have really liked all your SF reviews. That sweater is brilliant. I feel like the book and show series of Expanse was good but really fizzeled out. Check out the movie Mars Express.
I love the Remembrance of earths past trilogy, but that Netflix show.. nah. Was not impressed at all. There's a chinese adaptation that's actually much better.
Ooh fun hopefully you enjoy it!!!! Personally I don’t think I’ve ever read Shakespeare for fun it’s already been for school or uni so this will be a interesting for me too 😂
Just finished Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Excellent book, but pretty scary considering our current world situation. I just started The Library Policeman by Stephen King. I need to make some time to watch Shogun. It looks really good.
I got on a noir kick recently. I watched Double Indemnity, Sweet Smell of Success, and In a Lonely Place. Watched Mikey and Nicky for the first time too. And also my first Bergman with Persona, what a movie!
I will have go at top dog! I can recommend the original Swedish “Before we die”, at least the first season. Available on prime. Also the French “the bureau” is great but a spy drama.
March was a great month for you as far as consuming books, movies, and television is concerned. I am hearing a lot of amazing things about Octavia Butler, though I hear more about Kindred than I do about Dawn, but Dawn seems like it is fascinating and very well fleshed out. The only book of Icelandic literature that I read was Independent People by Halldor Laxness, which I read as a buddy read quite awhile back. I notice a theme about sheep farming within Icelandic literature, but would be intrigued to learn more about how crime writing plays into Icelandic literature. Even though it was delayed with the technology and flow of world events, I always found Iceland to be a more peaceful country. I agree that hunting for pride is more egotistical and immoral than anything. If you are hunting for food, that is one thing, but not creating trophies or photo-ops. I feel the same way about fishing. I would like to read R.F. Kuang. We came close to reading Babel as a Roundtable Read on our channel, but did not get around to doing so. I read Romeo and Juliet for a discussion we just filmed for our channel (which will be released in the near future), though I did read it like most students during freshman year of high school. I own a complete bindup of Shakespeare's plays and I am more than content with owning that that I do not feel the need to own anymore books containing Shakespeare's plays. Shakespeare is not my favorite playwright. I would like to read Dune at some point. Thank you for sharing and I hope April is proving to be a great reading month, too! -Josh
I would definitely buy an Icelantic sheep farmer romance, I can already see the film adaptation with a Sigur Ros soundtrack. The Expanse books are great, and the show is an exceptional adaptation. Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga has to be the best film about Iceland surely.
The Eurovision movie is tied with Northern Comfort for the worst Iceland set movies I’ve ever seen 😂 and the best is Lamb 🐑- which is perhaps what made me start thinking about sheep farming 😆
