And you know she bringing the best home-cooked meal to the potluck. She got them cheesy garlic mashed potatoes that nobody else can do the same as she does
1993 is the cutoff for me. 1994-1999 were good years....but gangster rap (around 1989) was making waves by that time. It was all about looking/acting hard and not having fun and enjoying life and being around people not fearing you losing your life.
My Grandma taught me this dance and song and until today didnt know it was from the 80s because I was so young but I remember the record player and I remember us listening to and practicing this song in the bedroom. I miss her so much. Peace and blessings upon her and all Grandmothers who are a big part of their Grandchildren lives. Selah.
This song is so Iconic & legendary everyones know its. I was in Nevada i pulled up to the hotel had my music playing this came on. When I mean everybody was doing. The workers, people around, drivers got outta there cars, kids, even the ppl in pool had a electric slide going. The whole hotel was rocking. It was AMAZING.....#TrueClassic
Man I remember being at Disneyland in the 90s with my family. I was only what, probably 5 years old. This song was on a big screen outside and we were in a big group of people and everybody was dancing! Such a carefree time!
No black family reunion or any bar-b-que is complete without this ‘feel good song’. This song also gave rise to several popular dances along the way. It remains a staple in the black community and is still popular at weddings and other gatherings to this very day. In the Deep South, we could always tell when it was last call and last dance in nightclubs because the deejay would put this on the turntable, signaling that the lights would be coming on and the club was closing for the night - usually around 2:00 AM ....... A Classic
@@robertduran6038 black music , and culture never settles or STOP to a particular region. It's Amazing how non rhythmic people could even participate in the dance itself.
Man we used to dance our asses off in the 90s! One club used to have an Electric Slide contest every week! Won quite a few times! 90s was the best decade for sure!
This song takes me back to the winter of 1992-3 when I took adavantage of a job opportunity in Lake Havasu City, Az and spent six months in that desert town. Every Saturday night, I’d be at this bar down near London Bridge drinking with some friends(I made more as time went on) and the dj would always play this song and EVERYONE was out on the floor dancing. Thew job didnt work out and I had to mover home in the spring of 1993 but I never regretted taking a chance moving from the midwest to the desert. Great people, good times.
The first time I heard this I was stationed in Italy. I remember dancing to it in a club in Naples. Half the people in the club didn't even understand the words but the music is universal.
No idea why this suddenly popped into my head, but I have loved hearing it again. I loved this when it came out and still feel the same about it today.
My dog's name is Wreckless and since he was a pup, we've danced to this... "It's a Wreckless!! Boogie woogie woogie", as soon as I get home from work especially 💕💕
Swear this made my whole soul smile every wedding, cookout, birthday party, family reunion, card party and just because it’s summer this song played my whole childhood those were the days!!!!
This was my friend Joey's favorite song before he passed I'll always remember letting loose for the first time in my life and have that one last electric slide ❤💔
yeah modern radio kinda sucks. It’s mainly electro pop, which sucks. I prefer the radio stations that market themselves at 70s, 80, 90s and more, because they have the good music, which is usually rock
FANTASTIC! I do not understand why it did not make number 1 on the charts? It is one of the all time best songs! Marcia Griffiths hit the jackpot with this song! It sends chills down my back!
I remember feeling awesome in gym class in the 90s... But you couldn't let anyone know that you loved it. 33 and I love the spirit. To get kids all over the nation to hear this. It's amazing
I believe this song came out in the late 80s or early 90s. I could listen to this over and over again. I love you marcia. Your great so talented thankyou
We should all get back up on the dance floor and get electric, 6.6.22.....& Boogie. Woogey ..that's wrong with us fratz Covid, now Monkey Pox,. Just bring back the ole JUKE BOX,.. and get electric.
This song and dance was very refreshing when it popped on the chart. We were sliding on this jam without a sled. 😮 yeah. Electric slide. Boogie Woogie. Go Marcia Griffin
This song was played at my 8th grade graduation dance in 1994, and a very large, heavyset teacher dancing alongside me stomped right on my foot. I am now 40 years old and the memory still pops into my brain every time I hear the song.
One of my all time favorite songs. Music is 1 of my escapes from reality..it always brightens my day. This is 1st time I have ever seen original singer's video!! Thanks for sharing this!:)
