I love watching anyone come to our city and enjoy themselves, especially during Mardi Gras. I'm born and raised here, never moved away, love the city and all it's history and tradition. I'm a member of the Krewe of Endymion, and still look forward to Mardi Gras every bit as much as I did when I was a child going to watch them. Thanks for sharing all of your awesome fun times. Genuinely happy you guys enjoyed yourselves so much. Come back again ASAP!
This is better then New Years Eve! It was so fun to watch you guys I never knew they had parades before the Mardi Gras day I would rather go like you guys did away from the actual Mardi Gras day. You guys killed it on the bead catching grabbing as much free stuff as I could is right up my alley lol Putting it on the bucket list for sure.
Hahaha you’re comment made our night!!! We had such a blast making this video! 🥰🎉 Yes!!! We can’t recommend going before all the craziness! It was so much more fun without all the crowds etc. I sure do hope you get a chance to catch as much free stuff as possible when you go! 🤣🙏🏼 haha thanks so much for watching & for your comment!
This is the best Madi Gras video I’ve seen. Can’t wait to see the full blog. The way you guys saw Madi Gras is exactly how we want to see the festival. Thanks for all your hard work and dedication.
Love it! You two are the best. The food is so amazing. Was a tad worried when we saw all the beads on the thumbnail! We were actually more concerned about Matt showing skin than Nat🤣🤣 Anyway luv y’all stay safe and can’t wait til the next vlog!🙏👍✈️☕️🍰
Right?? New Orleans food is SO good! Hahahaha... We should have put a disclaimer "No skin was show for the filming of this video"... Even mine! 🤣🤣 Thanks so much for watching! -Matt
Loving the person with the pool net!! Went one year on Easter with my kids and there is an easter parade where they throw beads, hats, stuffed animals, and various treats, and my kids loved it!
Your video was excellent, excellent !!! I have lived in New Orleans for many decades and you did an OUTSTANDING job of providing information, keeping it fun, safe, what to do, where to go, what to eat, and "family friendly". So, @ 20:00 what was it you guys were eating with the French Fries? I am going to forward this video to all my out of town friends and relatives and I MAY be inundated with "guests" for Mardi Gras thanks to Matt and Nat's video ha ha !! BTW, Mardi Gras season starts right after the 12th Day of Christmas which is January 5th, so January 6th is King's Day and the start of the Mardi Gras season named after when the 3 Kings (Wise men) visited Baby Jesus from which the King Cake with tiny plastic baby hidden inside tradition comes from. So "Laissez les bons temps rouler".... (Let The Good Times Roll !!)... as we all say here in N'awlins !!
So glad y’all got to experience an authentic Mardi Gras museum & parade! I am a Baton Rouge native, and there is nothing like the NOLA Mardi Gras experience and atmosphere!!! I hope y’all had a ball!!! 😊 & a friend of mine always rides in the Nyx parade!!! Can’t believe you got a coveted purse!!! Their throws are fabulous!!!
This has likely been pointed out already, but my FAVORITE part of y’all’s videos is the faces made by the person NOT talking while the other one drops some knowledge. You both do it and its the cutest thing ever 🫶🏼
I was dying at Matt's comment at the end about Natalie's face in the thumbnails 😂 Loved this video, glad yall had so much fun!! Thanks for sharing with us as always!
Thank you for portraying the non-Bourbon St side of Mardi Gras. There's SOOOOO much more to it than the "show me those and I'll give you this" you hear so much about. The grand stands downtown are a good place for out of towners but hanging out on the street along the rest of the 3 mile long route is where the real fun is. Couple of corrections: 1) While the Kern family that operates Mardi Gras World does build a lot of floats, that 80% number seems really high. PFJ Floats, Royal Artist, Cantrell, and other builders produce a lot of floats, and some individual krewes build their own floats as well. 2) The Krewe of Nyx used to be almost 3000 ladies and was a spectacle to see the Wednesday before Mardi Gras. It now struggles to maintain the required minimum of 250 people. Suffice it to say, the captain pretty much tanked what had been an amazing organization because of greed and hubris (there's lots of news articles out there so I won't go into details). Further up the route where it's locals only, people typically leave after Druids passes.
If you are there with Mardi Gras in full swing, it's hard to NOT get beads. Such a great atmosphere down there. Cafe Beignet! There ya go! Hand Grenades can't be beat. Such a blast down there.
Went last year two weeks after actual Mardi Gras. We walked soooo much! Also had the parade tracker on my phone and saw a decent size parade. I still can't believe how many beads and other treasures we got. One of my all time favorite trips
I live in the Florida Panhandle & have been to New Orleans several times but never during Mardi Gras but it's on my to do list. I absolutely love New Orleans. Such a fun city. Some friends went to the parades last year & got me some doubloons. I collect them now & am obsessed with them lol, glad yall had a great time
Super fun, Matt and Nat! I smiled and laughed all the way through. The po'boys looked delicious. Thank you so much for attending Mardi Gras for all of us who can't. God bless!
I hate I missed this live. I hope one day to go to Madi Grai.. I love you two, you seem so down to earth. Have fun in your adventures and stay very safe. Thank you for sharing.
Great video, Matt & Nat! I’m a native New Orleanian and your tips were spot on. I’m glad that you had a great time! I smiled the entire video watching you two have so much fun. Now I’m excited for parades this weekend 💜💚💛
Thank you for this video - I had no I idea it was a whole season with several parades leading up to Mardi Gras! It looks like you two had such a fine time.
Great fun, lots of beads and Nat got the purse! I was in New Orleans just before Katrina. I left on the Thursday, Storm was expected on Firday/ Saturday. Sunday was when the levee broke. When I booked my trip, my mom warned me that I was going during hurricane season. One of the most fun things I did was the Southern Comfort cocktail tour, basically a pub crawl, by the end we were all sharing drinks.
I’ve watched your videos since your first New Orleans one -2021!! great to see you back there! I went there from the UK in 2022 ( not Mardi Gras, but managed a day at Jazzfest) Loved it 😊
Aww... Thank you SO much for being on the adventure with us! It was definitely fun to be back! Oh man, we would love to go to Jazzfest! I bet that was awesome! So glad you got to go! Thanks for watching! 🥰
We live in Lafayette & NOLA is our big city adventure growing up in south Louisiana. Hope you LOVED, LOVED the food!!!! Party on 🎉I’m with you on the hurricanes- yum
Loved this! We were in New Orleans last year, it was amazing! We were there for a cruise, but also spent 4 days there and ate our weight in po' boys! Will have to return for Mardi Gras 🎉
Omg this video had me laughing your excitement at the parade!! Although I don’t agree with the Genie face statement it did make me giggle … and I think I could watch an entire video on bloopers too! Such a great video this one I felt like I was there!
That looks like so much fun! I have been to New Orleans for work but I definitely need to go back and experience that. I like that you can come earlier and it is not so crowded too. I so enjoy your channel! Also, I am a chai girl too!!!
Wait till next weekend. We are about to have a blast here in New Orleans. Try to go to Hermes on Friday, Endymion on Saturday, Bacchus on Sunday and Proteus & Orpheus on Monday. All epic parades
It’s so funny to hear y’all say the only thing you can’t bring are ladders when there are definitely ladders out every single year 🤣 it’s not my scene, but I’m glad you enjoyed our area! 🩷
My husband and I have enjoyed the videos we've watched of yours. He retires soon and we look forward to more time to explore. You're such a cute couple. Good job on the videos. Very informative.
HELLO AGAIN GUYS. As always, a great video. Makes me want to go to New Orleans during Mardi Gras again, but my last MG I had some issues and didn't like it. My son and I ARE coming to NO for his birthday in less than 4 weeks. I ALWAYS enjoy The French Quarter and LOVE the food, history and culture. Keep up the fun videos.
From a former NOLA local...French Quarter Fest beats Mardi Gras any day. Looks like you'll miss it by a month but especially if you enjoy the FQ, it may be much better suited for you.
That was so awesome!!! What a great parade, I didn’t realize they did that before the real Mardi Gras parade! You can tell you guys had a blast , wow got a lot of beads and stuff! Did you feel safe walking around the area? I heard the crime is bad there. I haven’t been there in years and would love to go back one of these days! Thanks for sharing the fun! 😊🥳
It was a good time for sure! Definitely brought out our inner kid! Lol... And we were so happy that it worked out to meet up with Eric! And we never measured the weight of our haul... We totally should have! It was a LOT! Lol... Thanks for watching, Jason!😊
Have worked a few Mardi Gras events, but haven't been to any parades in 13 years. If I'm not working, we don't even go to our Louisiana house during the season.
New Orleans is by far one of my FAVORITE trips I have taken. I spent New Years there and it was epic. I would love to make it back for Mardi Gras one of these days. Next time you guys are there you have to have a muffuletta! It is one of the best sandwiches- I even bought another one I could bring on the plane 😂
Oh wow! I bet that was epic!!! So fun! Thanks for sharing! 🥰 ohhhhh girl you better believe we had a muffuletta!! (We just ate it in our first video) gosh soooooo good! Makes me want one now! Haha 😂 thanks so much for watching! 🥰
Beads are mostly a Mardi Gras thing but you can get them year round. The gift shops always have them and you may stumble upon an unplanned parade or two while in the French Quarter. (Bachelor / Bachelorette parties are known to have impromptu parades, complete with a jazz band. RU-vid has many videos of them.) May should be nice and muggy so by all means wear comfortable clothing.
We have that extra information in our blog, linked in the description! That $25 was for the week before Mardi Gras. We stayed in the “Lafayette hotel” grandstand! Hope that helps & that you have an amazing time!
Exactly and we are in Jan so I was asking when this was filmed. It was an innocent question. I am not asking when it was I am asking when it was filmed. Btw they say in the title it is Mardi Gras. @timothygriffin1062 @@timothygriffin1062
