Day 7 was at Rhodes and the ship berthed very close to Rhodes Town so it was an easy walk to get there. As we were on the island not long ago we decided against an excursion and just wandered the streets of Rhodes Town. We enjoyed almost everything about the visit this time except for the scam Keith was caught by at lunchtime. He asked for a Mythos beer but instead of being offered a volume he was asked "Small, medium or large?" Assuming (and we all know if you assume anything it makes an ass of u and me) this related to the common size of 500ml he asked for a medium and received a glass boot containing a good two litres! He wouldn't have drunk that much even if he hadn't been told to drink sparingly because of the meds he takes so the proprietor made at least €10 out of him. It wasn't just that restaurant, either, as we saw other people struggling with these boots. Some had been conned into buying the large ones, which must have held over three litres!

Day 8 was turnover day back at Marmaris. We had the whole day to explore because we were staying aboard and it was very easy. We were issued with immigration cards by the ship and after we'd shown them to the border officers we passed though easily. We liked Marmaris. It feels quite Western, with some wide shopping streets and abundant, modern statues between well-maintained flower beds. The only thing that made us cut short our visit was the temperature. Even the Turks were moaning!
