Aw shame, what a gorg venue and you're really working so hard for her!! Fingers crossed it's nothing more serious than her just being in season 🤞 Had a mare super similar, super sharp little mare that ended up doing novice with me, but at the beginning, she'd refuse a 80cm fence. Ended up just being her confidence, so took it back to the drawing board for 6 months and only did polework, grid work and tiny jumps (along with tons of flatwork and hacking). I really tried to work on my own personal balance plus equitation and my eye to the jump, she was much more confident if I only ever asked her for the correct distance and had myself balanced in the saddle and in my leg-to-contact connection. I hope you guys get this all sorted out! You're a mega duo!
Yeah all good, if I need to investigate I absolutely will. But I think her seasons & lack of physio hasn’t helped at all. Plus this day she must’ve been a bit aching after XC the day before/ which I held my hand up and said I shouldn’t have done. I think with seren it’s also mentally - she lacks so much confidence in herself & when she jumps big she scares herself. She is also still developing the canter so it’s all things she’s getting used to still . Glad you got sorted with your horse that’s amazing & gives me hope xx

Keep at it! you are doing you're best! Bloody mares, i can relate. My mare started running off with me on our hacks, tore 4 rugs, injured herself and pulled some shoes all cause she was in season.

I know, how annoying though it’s only January! But the weather has been all over the place so that is probably she’s in season. Thanks so much, I wanted to go XC cause she can be totally different confidence wise and me too. It’s beautiful isn’t it 😍😍 we have a BE XC COURSE TOO
@@Whizzywelsh_Eventing yeah, now you mention it, it is a strange time for her to be in season. I wouldn't know a lot as the mare I used to own never showed any signs she was ever in season!! 'Tis like everything else, with horses you don't know what's up till you try something, I was riding my horse one day and he was acting soooo weird. After 5 mins of him hitching his bum up, I gave up and got off, when I was checking him over I discovered he'd gotten mud in between his hind legs, and it was a bit uncomfortable-what with him being a boy (if you get what I mean!!!) 🤣 When I move, I'm going to live there. I dunno where the horse is going, but I'm living at that yard!!!! 🤣🤣

Genuinely something I would probably do 🤣!! She is very very careful she doesn’t like getting things wrong at all bless her. She’ll be grand she’s having a nice break & M.O.T to be sure she’s tip top xxx
Has she ever had a lameness work up or her suspensories scanned? Seasons can affect mares a lot, but its like she's telling you something else is hurting her. You're blaming yourself but you're riding well and using your leg!
No I have never had a lamness work up done on her. She hasn’t because she has never came up lame in a vet check/ physio has never flagged it. I have tracked her seasons other past year or so- I have a list of outings when she was in season & Everytime we will have a bad outing. This has been brewing for a while especially if it is her first season of the year. She is a very hormonal mare her mammories swell & lactate. Hence why I started the inprovac injection. I also think this particular day she was sore- as I said in hindsight I shouldn’t have gone the day after arena xc lesson- let’s just say lesson learnt now. She’s having a full M.O.T - I think her saddle isn’t fitting as she’s changed shape again & she’s sore on her right side - if you notice it’s everytime I am turning right she ‘stops’ doesn’t flow as well. My coaches are professionals- one is a BE Coach , one is a 5* international showjumper & one is a grand pre dressage rider. They have not once flagged up she is sore/ lame. Seren is a very complicated mare & lacks confidence so much. I have legit had to start this mare from the very beginning. Hence the canter being like it is & just starting to get better. I am absolutely on it though & if she doesn’t improve after her M.O.T / improvac injections she will be getting a full vet work up for peace of mind. She’s also been scoped clear of ulcers in the past when she did the same thing- which again is sometimes a sign there is pain. Xx
None taken, She is very different XC and so am I confidence wise. In hindsight I should’ve pulled out but she jumped well up until number 4 then said ‘I can’t’ and after that near- miss I jumped one fence to leave it on a positive note. Xx
I see someone else comment this but, although she is in season, maybe something is hurting her like you said but maybe worth having her checked over just to make sure! Not trying to be offensive but just asking xx
