This video is very well done, and Margot Frank should of course be remembered as well. but it bothers me that one of Margot's friends said that Margot was more valuable than her sister, Anne. Both of the girls were valuable in their own individual ways.

I definitely agree with you! I tried to keep the video neutral without putting my opinion too much. I think it was an odd thing to say because while Margot was of course so wonderful, Anne is famous for a reason. She was wise beyond her years, a talented writer, and at the same time just an ordinary girl. I’m wondering too if “valuable” is a poor translation, but I’ve never seen any other word used :/

@@margot.frank.remembered1226 I am Dutch and "valuable" is the perfect translation, sadly. These girls are equally important, each a victim of the same crime. Just because one of them got more famous than the other, that doesn't mean one is more "valuable" than the other. They were both human beings and children.

@@Aheartofbooks I’m glad we agree that it’s not true, because both girls were extremely valuable and full of so much potential. All the lives lost were valuable and, as I said before - Anne is famous for a reason. Thank you so much for the clarification 🖤

Margot Frank...Such a sad story.Really wish, her diary too was found, like Anne's. To me, Margot was a quiet, dignified, intelligent young girl with lovely dark, expressive eyes. She ought not to take the final exit in this way!!. She was like a beautiful flower that never blossomed !! RIP dear Margot.

I would have loved to have read Margot's diary, but, after some thought, perhaps it is best it was lost. Given Margot's shy and reserved ways, I think it is appropriate that her innermost thoughts and feelings be secret forever. I really believe that is what she would have wanted.

Reading The Diary of Anne Frank, in 6th grade, changed my life. I think anyone who reads her diary understands that she was in awe of her older sister, but trying to be her own person and find her own unique gifts and talents. They were both (as was the entire family, and household) under such a tremendous amount of fear and stress - it is almost unimaginable. I have never read what happened to Margot's diary. It was sweet to read how the sisters agreed to read portions of each.

it is mind-blowing how Margot stated she dreamed of immigrating to Palestine, almost like there was a link between the situations happening now. great video - really helped with my homework!

Hopefully we can take Margot Frank out of her sister’s shadow if her surviving friends can remember and express how they remember her. In her lifetime, everyone always loved Margot more than Anne, but now that we know what Anne was really like, the favorable personalities have switched. Anne’s dream has come true, but poor Margot was killed before she could make her imprint on the world. She may or may not have wanted to be remembered like Anne, but she deserves a little bit of limelight as well.

What a lovely video about Margot who I am happy to report I share my birthday with which I think is brilliant. It was nice seeing the comments by Barbara, Jetteke and Buddy. Buddy told a story: years after the war he got married and had children, Uncle Otto would naturally come to see them and he would hold the children. Buddy said you could see he was thinking if things had turned out differently he could have been holding his own grandchildren. Margot wanted to be a midwife but she would have had children aswell. May the Franks rest in peace 🙏 xxx

Thank you so much for this movie. I have known about the Frank's pretty much my whole life, but of course, the emphasis was always on Anne. I had no idea that there was so much more to Margot than I was led to believe. While I understand that Margot was a private person, and so would perhaps not have enjoyed being in the public eye so much, I think it is tragic that her diary seemed to be lost. Thank you so much for opening my eyes to the truth about Margo Frank.

Though we are not related as far as I can determine, I feel a real kinship to Anne and Margot Frank. My grandparents, like the Franks, were Jewish, born in Germany and emigrated to Amsterdam. In fact, they grew up in the Jewish neighborhood of Amsterdam. My Oma remembers falling in the canal as a little girl just before emigrating to America. Many relatives did not emigrate and some died in Auschwitz, like Edith Frank. A few survived and emigrated to Israel. Anyhow, this story is very close to the story of the Frank family and thus I feel a kinship to them. Their story is so tragic, so heartbreaking, I am filled with sorrow and grief.
@margot.frank.remembered1226
Thank you for sharing. It is shocking how many people lived stories very similar to the Franks; I am glad that your oma was able to get out in time. And I am so very sorry for the loss of family you never had the chance to know or meet

Something escapes me after seeing this video..and knowing a bit about the frank family .Why didnt they move to Switzerland? Otto's mother lived there and jews had no problem in this country or like otto' s relatives why didnt they emigrate to the USA?They would have been secure .but they should have gone there in 1941 at the beginning of the year . .Otto knew perfectly that antisemitic laws were going to be more and more severe ..what a waste ..
@margot.frank.remembered1226
@margot.frank.remembered1226 5 месяцев назад
Hi! Mr. and Mrs. Frank seriously considered moving to Switzerland. As both Switzerland and the Netherlands had remained neutral during WW1, they originally considered them to be equally safe options. They knew the antisemitic laws were getting worse but did not anticipate Hitler violating neutrality. Amsterdam ended up seeming to be the best option as it seemed safe, Otto had better business connections there, and it was close enough to Edith's hometown in Aachen that they would still be able to visit Edith's family. The plan was not always to definitely stay in the Netherlands, but the girls adjusted so well and loved it, so they decided it was safe to stay. By 1939, and definitely starting in 1940, Otto was working very hard to get his family out of the country. They tried everything they could think of and applied for visas to multiple different countries. It was only when Otto realized they truly were trapped that he decided to plan to go into hiding. We know Otto was an optimist which may have played against him in this situation, but he also was acutely aware of the dangers of Naziism. I think the main issue was that they did not expect the invasion of Holland.

@@mcmlxii4419 People, children especially, tend to look at what is different as strange. In pre-war Germany, some may guess that antisemitism was everywhere. But I wanted to make a point that they were seen exactly as they were at school - simply as students.
