I remember her breakdown in the news. I was shocked and saddened when that happened. I'm so glad she kept herself busy with work and activism in her final years. R.I.P..
A revelation. I was a big Margot kidder fan when I was young. Superman in junior high, she was a GREAT Lois Lane. Then Amityville Horror in high school with James Brolin scared the life out of me. Later I saw Sisters for the first time, there was nothing she couldn't do. Great actor, hilarious comedy, on and on. So beautiful, so unique. She is a great legend and a great star for me. R.I.P.
I only got to really appreciate Margot Kidder as an actress - and as an amazing person - fairly late in my life. She was a beautiful spirit who in her own way, actually helped make the world a better place through her presence and existence. Thanks for posting this lovely documentary!
When she passed, one of the pictures I posted in tribute on Twitter was of her & Carrie talking at some event, possibly a charity dinner from the looks of it. Being born in 1971, Carrie’s Leia & Margot’s Lois Lane were the first depictions of women in film that I saw. (Saw the 1st SW in the theater but saw Superman II in theaters before Superman I - not sure why or when I finally saw S1, but S2 opening with a substantial recap of S1 was very helpful.) Both characters were strong women, so I grew up believing women were equal to - scratch that - often more competent than men. Leia’s would-be rescuers in the 1st Star Wars film ended up needing Leia to rescue them & Lois was repeatedly referred to as the best reporter on staff in these Superman films. I’m surprised no one else found that underwear line funny, but it does explain her ability to nail all the scenes where Lois does hilariously stupid thing. 😂 It was months after her actual cause of death was revealed that I learned of - likely one of those times I had a migraine & the story made it’s rounds in the news cycle before I was back on my feet. I know people have to want help to get it, but they also need a strong support system; it seems she was very much alone in life. 😢😔
We will never forget you Margot. I always watched your films all of my life and still do and love to see your interviews as well to remember you. We will never forget you.
Margot first came to my attention in a lovely little Irish film playing opposite Gene Wilder in Quackser Fortune Has A Cousin In The Bronx. Check it out as it rewards repeated viewings. Rest in Peace Ms. Kidder.
Sad life yeah Terrible ending I don't know She got to go out on her own terms instead of rotting in some Hospital which is more than we can say about most
For me, the best Superman is Christopher Reeve's, Henry Cavil, George Reeves and Dean Cain is an honorable mention. The rest of them just didn't give me the perception that they're Superman. RIP Christopher and George, and maybe one day, Henry will to return to the role. But that's just me I guess. Curious to see your thoughts on who is your Superman. As far as Lois Lane is concerned, for me it's always going to be Margot Kidder. To me she fit the role perfectly, and executed it well. Cheers Dion
