The child crying in the background just enhances the experience

I just learned about this Welsh tradition and it looks like so much fun! I'd love to see it in person one day.

Even the cameraman isn't safe from Mari Lwyn.

This tradition isn’t complete without the blood-curdling screams of petrified children in the background.

I randomly came across this tradition. I must say it was actually quite entertaining to watch.

Here we come my dear friends to ask permission to sing. If we don't have permission, let us know in song how we should go away tonight.

This is a Welsh Tradition dating back 100s of years. Back when it started most Welsh people were pagans and quite a few of us still are
@dasy2k1
@dasy2k1 2 года назад
@@samanthapalmer2996 exactly, isn't the correct response after much back and forth of singing to offer a cup of wassail to the revelers after which they will move on?
@samanthapalmer2996
@samanthapalmer2996 2 года назад
@@dasy2k1 yes or something very similar. These days depending on what region of Wales you live in the response is to either keep going back and forth until the Mari Lwyd party get bored and move on themselves or if you lose "the battle" due to running out of reasons why they shouldn't enter then you simply offer them some form of drink and possibly a little treat (commonly it my area it is mince pies) at which point they move on, they don't even enter your home anymore
