I kinda like her being a little under the radar and I, personally, believe that happens because she wants it that way... We -her biggest followers- know her personal story and a lot of recognition and popularity isn't exactly what she is looking for. Becoming a famous standup seems what ANY comedian would want but Maria is just not ANY comedian. She knows herself well enough to put herself out there just in the right amount... Just think about that comedy special of hers where she performs just in front of her parents... We love you, Maria.
@@diegoi.g.g. -- I have to disagree with you. Her importance to comedy is just too great. Just as we couldn't tell the story of comedy without names like Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor or Larry David, we also can't without heavily acknowledging Maria Bamford. Too many women in comedy for her to not claim some portion of the throne for herself, if for no other reason than to remind people that standup is not (and should never be) male dominant. Joe Rogan has the most popular podcast in America, for example, and consistently promotes other meat-headed comedians, vaulting their careers far past what they'd be capable on talent alone. Not only that, but as a man with such a large platform, along with men who control 99% of the entertainment industry, the kinds of women that are going to be fast-tracked are those who willingly subject themselves and their sexuality to public consumption. That just reinforces the idea that women's comedy has to be sexual, that it can't be intellectual or interesting, which only leads to bad comedy. IMO, it's critical Maria be put on a pedestal so that the integrity of standup itself is preserved. She's one of the best to ever do it and for her to continue to go unrecognized, or underacknowledged, is an absolute travesty.
I didn’t know it was possible to become so utterly obsessed with a comedian in a week. binged lady dynamite and adult baby and I’m terrified of the content running out
I happen to know the feeling, I just discovered her about a month ago--I know, I know--I don't get out much! She is absolutely brilliant, I think I'm becoming a disciple of Ms. Bamford...She probably wants to be the leader of a comedy cult, right? (probably not)...She is such an unique, gargantuan talent-sheer genius!
In the words of the lovely lady herself, doing the words of another lady: "I know, right?" (i.e., I love her too much...or at least her work-we've never met but she's awesome)
She has the balls the naivety? The inner drive that over rode reason to share her minds workings with us. And you lucky souls and I am part of a secret club
Carlos Miguel ohhhhh my god, she's referring to that simplistic ass book. I never got that reference. That is genius. Along with all of it. She is so special.
"I know that motorboats are gonna hit me, but this is where i fucking swim" lol i love Maria Bamford she is definitely one of the greatest comedians ever.
Simply the best comic or whatever you want to call her. ("comic" is too limiting a label for her) in the world. I am mesmerized by her. Nobody can do what she does. A totally unique talent. I always want more. Go Maria, step forward in the direction of your dreams. thanks for the gift
ohhhhh my god... Maria. Thankyou for broadcasting you mind. super much luv. yer a savant, a ninja, a creative torrent, a bombastic ballistic juggernaut. Peace!
All comedy is subjective of course, but a large foundation of all comedy is breaking expectation. What I have always loved about Maria is that she doesn't need to be obnoxious or controversial to be funny (like most of my other favourite comics!). Her characters, her knowledge of people and of herself is so honest and real that it ends up being really unexpected. It's raw honesty and how easy it is to identify with shows so much insight. It's magnetic. She's always been such a talent and just gets better and better.
I've had to stop this thing about 12 times to laugh and then recompose myself. It's not just the amazing jokes and insight but the delivery and accents. She never ceases to amaze me.
Same here, and I usually end up seeing at least one other level that it's funny on, and have to stop and laugh some more. It's concentrated, time-release comedy!
The impression of her mom is spot on! I sat in front of her parents long ago at a show and introduced myself and we talked. She sounds exactly like that.
I saw her in Brooklyn I wanna say in 2000 lol. She was great. Brought down the house. She stuck around for a bit actually and enjoyed all the free drinks. Very funny woman. Lot of fun to be around.
I also had to say how awesomely positive and supportive all the comments are...I feel like she reveals some deep seeded pain in her life and she deserves the great response from everyone...if that makes sense...
Maria is brilliant. Nobody does such intimate comedy as she does. She's really out there in everything she does. Her voice work for Adventure Time is also amazing. She is one of the greatest comedians (comediennes, whatever) of all time
My favorite female comedian for a while now. Very unique from other comedians I've seen, and that uniqueness makes her so wonderfully special. Awesome lady.
A thorough examination of her brain and how it works would yield some interesting results. She is so brilliant and so freakin funny. The whole package makes her cuter and more adorable. What a talent..!
hilarious, inventive, and attractive, Maria Bamford is one of, ... ok, to me she's the best comedian ever. (male or female) I do realize a lot of her material repeats in other videos, however, so does other comedians (material), but it's how they perfect their act. So anyway, I think she's great. Keep up the great work Maria.
The ability for her to stream such an endless flow of wild imaginative bits like that is just such a unique talent...it obviously takes someone very intelligent. What a trip... the embodiment and hyperbole of her characters is just brilliant...its funny but its almost something more than comedy...a new interpretive art form not really seen before
