So, she was fluent in English, Italian, French and Greek. And everything she says is full of meanings. Huge talent, beauty, intelligence, sensitivity. She had it all. ALL.
She lived in the countries of the languages she spoke. It is a natural process. I cannot imagine living in a country for any time, and not picking up the language. Languages asides, she was a fantastic singer. Loved her voice ! I observed some inconsistencies about her , not singing for a long time when she was close to Onassis. She claims that Onassis did not want her to sing but if we hear another version It was her decision not to sing and Onassis was against it as it was the main attraction she had, to him. Very interesting.....He wanted to enjoy his famous lover, but lost interest when she stopped singing. He decided to win Jackie over, and have a change of scenery. She wanted him for his money and he wanted her for her fame. People living in delusions, in the end, will lose everything. Jackie went on living a long time, with the financial assistance of her new companion who invested her money and made it grow, many folds.......She had a knack for rich old men. She died of cancer but a very rich woman......Ha. I guess Caroline has her money now.
@@linanicolia1363 I'm from Europe, most people speak their native language and English (maybe) there are a few who speaks more than 2 language, i would say about 5%
She's always so much more intelligent than those asking her questions. Mike Wallace tried so hard to pierce her, bleed her, break her open, and she elegantly parried his clumsy attacks with the merest hand movements and a few wise words.
I'm three minutes into this interview and wondering why she is still entertaining this fool? Amazing how she keeps smiling and entertaining his garbage. What grace!
The interviewer is just fine - he is simply asking the kind of somewhat indelicate questions to which everyone wants to hear the answers. Besides, Callas is more than a match for him. You don't see her being the least bit non-plussed or even slightly irritated. Also, never forget - these people being interviewed receive the questions in advance. It's all a bit staged. I know, because I've worked in this business for 40 years.
@@linanicolia1363 So do I. And I knew she lived here. But not all who live here speak excellent French. NB: My first published memoir was about Callas.
@@linanicolia1363 Callas didn't live in France until she retired from the opera stage. She first learned French during the musical training. As she insisted during her master class at the Juilliard, one can properly sing the text only when one actually speak and understand the language.
Merci Maria Callas ❤️
The thought that this glorious woman wasted her heart on Onassis is depressing. She should have been shown great passion and deserved someone who cherished her every minute.
Merci Madame Callas
voice mind languages would mean nothing to the wolrd had she not looked like a model and had a social life with the socialites. that's the sad truth ( about the world). When I think of the incredible( few but they exist) artists in classical music now that nobody ( no manager, no audience) really pays attention to simply because they refuse to wear the mini skirts...
She was so sexy as "herself"! I wasn't expecting that! As "La Callas", she was a marble-monument-beauty. Great actress - to top her voice and musicality.
She really is quick-witted. I've watched this video several times, and it doesn't fail to send me in mixed feelings. I love her. She is my one and only opera singer.
I have seen countless interviews with the fascinating Madame Callas. No matter how many times I see this intelligent artist speak, I'm continually fascinated, enchanted and intrigued. I feel the same about her beautiful work. Her voice was so layered with passion, intensity, clarity, elegance and a bit of brashness. Totally unique and unparalleled. She also involved into a truly beautiful and elegant woman, completely separate from La Callas.
Yes , she was fluent in more than languages to do that it is not easy, but many people think that is it not important, but is it very important and difficult to do.bravo Maria Callas.
i absolutely adore Ms Callas! she is her own person in every right and does not back down. interesting she is constantly called "difficult" she stood up for herself!
J admire j adore. Maria. Callas.. La. Soprano exceptionnelle unique... La femme. avec une âme magnifique...Adorable .. Cet interview. Le prouve... Merci... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
She is a highly intelligent and very confident lady. She is right, maybe without her infamous “temperament” she would not shine as bright. The real geniuses are always never perfect and have many flaws but they stand out among the rest.
Sincere, frank, simple and humble like an American sophisticated and charming like an european Fluent like a linguist Honorable and dedicated like a nun or an ancient priestess Regal like an empress Beautiful like a stage actress Elegant in her dressing With a few gestures, a perfect timing for smiling and shooting her well prepared replies She never disappoints! Great, powerful woman despite her fragilities
If she only had a slightly better taste for the men that she chose as her partners she would have been happier as well. She had everything and she was messing up herself by meddling up with idiots. But to be fair that is always the case. The very talented and charismatic persons can't find easily the right match for them. Someone who can appreciate their talents and go with them instead of going for them or against them.
@@creativecolours2022 Well said. She said everything that sums it up: she put him on a pedestal so he used her and throw her when she was not needed any more.
@@ewa5803 I assume that you talk about Onassis. Because in the case of Menenghini it was the other way round. He was the one who put her on the pedestal and he gave her financial security when she began her career and the opportunity to advance this career in opera. But he was as well completely unsuitable for as her husband. He was 29 years older than her and in his case she was the one who eventually left him. But generally speaking she didn't choose the right partners. She went with two way too older than her men, who both were very rich instead of going for someone closer to her age and more artistic. She could choose whoever she liked but she stuck with Onassis who aside the fact that he was filth in his business he wasn't even a good looking man. I don't know how she fell that hard for him! It wasn't that she needed his money when she met him as she had already established her fame and she was the most well paid opera singer of her time.
@@creativecolours2022 Thank youn for your beautifull explanation. I think...the reason could be that deep inside she felt she did not deserve more ( plus maybe some daddy issues😉). Financial, artistic or any other success does not guarantee self worth. Look at Witney Houston. Same thing. Both beautifull and talented women, same thing. All the best🤗
OMG I fell in love with sm who is dead. What an amazing personality!!! They way she communicates is a century ahead of her time and no wonder many people misunderstood her or not understood her at all. Even if she didn't have best voice of all time or knowing anything about her, I would fell in love with her after just one minute because of her stunning personality and style. Damn Onassis made her quit signing. I hate him (again a dead guy lol).
Journalists always wanted to analyse her personality like she was at the therapist. As they knew her better than she herself. And she needed to defend herself all the time. 😡
I did notice the journalists treated the interviews with her like an interrogation. She is so amazing and deep not like the entertainers today. The females want to be pubescent and giggle. Ms. Callas was a profound artist.
"The moment the idol happens to be a bit fragile, or is going through a difficult patch, and needs help, that's when she's ruined." This was very strong, but so true at the same time. It reminds me of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.
Maria talks about being human but she was the most divine and angelic ever. I never realised how beautiful she was young! She was Greek too and I am proud, but her divine greatness is actually above nations and belongs to the whole humanity! Btw was it me or the interviewer was being kind of a disrespectful a*****e? Anyways it doesn't really matter, it's the destiny of the greatest of this world to suffer by the stupidity of the jealous and ungrateful surrounding people
So, she was self-aware of the talent she had on loan from GOD. Wow what a woman, person, talent. Beyond words' extraordinary! where are these people today?
