Maria Callas performing the arias Tacea La Notte Placida and Di Tale Amor, from Verdi's Il Trovatore, live in Naples in 1951 under the baton of Tullio Serafin. This recording is from the Gli Anni D'oro Collection (Vol. I, 1951-1953) of live Maria Callas opera recordings. I find her voice to be in fine form here, with no sign of the wobble that was later introduced into her higher register. I'm just amazed by the control she has over her voice! Everything is exactly as she wants it to be. She is phenomenal.
I'm going to be uploading exerpts from live Callas recordings of Il Trovatore, I Puritani, Armida, Norma and Medea all recorded between 1951 and 1953. Hope you enjoy, and let me know if you have any aria/duet/ensemble requests!
