Again I return to my beloved Grinberg. It's a shame she's been so overshadowed by the other titans which came out of the Soviet Union (certainly posthumously). This recording of Schumann's Symphonic Studies is - in my mind - nothing short of astonishing, and shows the Russian school of piano playing at its finest. A deep, rich sound, a neo-romantic approach, impeccably correct and sound musicianship, and with a strong technical foundation to back it up. Bravo, Maria.
