hmm im not the only person that was thinking that. Later I read on pitchfork the same thing in better words: "that this is perhaps the first Minerva record where you can understand everything she's singing". I didn't say it was bad, as that is more of subjective thought.. I just said it was more tame than her music before.
not sure how i feel about this.. its very.. tame.. what I liked about the old music is that someone could listen to it and be like wtf, i dont get it. This new stuff, maybe some people dont like it, but they get it. That is too bad b/c I loved the wtf element of the old music it was wild and unique. Tis okay though, everyone must grow and evolve musically, even if its towards normality..
I dont know man. There is a fusion of musical genres going on right now that hasnt been seen since the sixties. I could list dozens, but if pure WTF is your thing try World Standards 1997 ambient country fusion album called Country Gazette,or anything by Dimlite,Ott,or Shpongle. Other genre spanning artists I like: Blockhead,Shanghai Restoration Project,Andrew Bird, 40 Winks,Clams Casino,Daniel Rossen,Debruit,Gangstagrass,Robot Koch,Psychemagik,Son Lux,Phaeleh,Ruckspin,Sunmonx. What is normal????
