His Holiness the Dalai Lama in conversation with Maria Shriver during a session of Peace Summit 2009 held in Vancouver, Canada, on September 29th, 2009. (www.dalailama.com)
What an incredibly awesome, humble man. So patient to deal with us Westerners (specifically the Shriver as an interviewer). This man is one of my heroes. :) Much respect!
Normally its very hard for famous people to say " I don't know" But H.H. the Dalai Lama has the courage to say he doesn't know if he is not sure of something. Its wonderful ! Long life H.H.........................
If you can't help for others , than don't be mean either ! That's Compassion . Thank you for taking your time & good message . Sometimes we do need remind because of our Materials World !
I have the utmost respect for Dalai Lama and the tradition, as an Indian this is really satisfactory to have him in our country and to know that we can be helpful in someway. But I can not help but wonder if he is really enlightened!
25-26 min in He really tells all good truth (He had time to assimilate and understand what she was saying) peace love and happiness some of the keys to life
Thats what buddhism is about , compassion . Dalai Lama doesnt judge , neither should we . Doesnt matter how Maria was dressed or what she was doing . She was just herself .
it's a shame people want to comment negativity on this comment board. It makes me wonder if they just watched the video at all, or even more, LISTENED AND LEARNED HIS HOLINESS' MESSAGE OF PEACE AND EQUALITY
You could tell that he was getting a little annoyed by her. I am extremely impressed by his patience as you say and his ability to keep his voice serene and stay happy. Also I am disappointed in the way she aggressively asks him questions, some of which are silly given his viewpoints. Like how can you ask about his fears when it's clear this man doesn't fear much?
"We are greatly impressed by the Tibet University and Traditional Tibetan Hospital, through which we see the development process of Tibetan culture," said Viacheslav Akimov, director of the Middle East and Africa editorial office of ITAR-TASS News Agency.
care though - if even in serendipity = you can love the good person - just not the evil they can do = so just stay by the way - always to love and care
SELFISHNESS IS A VERY SHORT TERM ANSWER TO A LONG TERM PROBLEM. SELFLESSNESS IS THE ONLY ANSWER, BUT CARRIES A SHORT TERM DISADVANTAGE MOST WILL NOT ACCEPT BECAUSE THEY ARE BLIND AND DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
The Dalai Lama makes a high wisdom important teaching as concerning the skilful spiritual practitioner being able to remain in mindfulness whilst projecting various energies out to guide and contain the energies inherent within a situation. Anger in this situation is not anger but seems like anger. An example of this might be Jesus in the temple. I have seen for myself (and been at the end of!) such wrathful energy from enlightened practitioners. This is called the 'roar of the lion'.
Adam The first man, from descended all man kind. Created on the same day as the animals,he is particularly blessed by God. I wish I was blessed and protected by God.
The delegation went to Lhasa, capital city of Southwest China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, southern Tibet’s Lhoka Prefecture, and southeastern Tibet’s Nyingchi Prefecture for a visit. Besides the most common tourist cultural and religious places like the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple, they also made a special visit to the Traditional Tibetan Hospital, Tibet University, traditional folk residence, and the inheritance of ethnic handicraft.
@Sileni There is a particular attitude when you talk to someone you think lesser than you, equal or greater than you. If you think this woman has showed the greatest respect she could, than she had.
The Dalai Lama showed much concern as seen on his face when he talked about the gap between the rich and the poor. The rich becoming richer except ego boosting brings only some lift to the lifestyle of the rich but on the other end, if the extra wealth is distributed to the poor, there will be an immense difference to their standard of living and will benefit consumer spending generating GDP growth in many sectors. In the hands of the rich, most likely, only the price of luxury items, private jets etc will escalate. The current capitalistic economic model has failed and will get worse.
"Like China, Russia is also a multinational country. There are lots of commons between the two states on ethnic cultural protection. So, we concern more about the protection and development of Tibetan culture." Vladimir Fedoruk, a reporter from the Asia and Far East editorial office of ITAR-TASS News Agency said: "Russia has many minority groups, we attach great importance to the protection of ethnic culture. And like in China, different ethnic groups also intermarry with each other in Russia."
@GrowUp66 i am sure His Holiness wouldn't use such sort of term to describe her lol despite how disrespectful she is.. as actually if he does.. he doesnt go with what he talked about the whole time throughout the video.. *compassion* Just thought that term was a bit too harsh to use... she and tibetans are from different culture.. so maybe she wanted to make the convo more open by asking questions openly xD
"Not only me, but also my colleagues have also observed how much effort the Chinese central government has put to help Tibet, how the local government governs the autonomous region and how the Tibetan culture has been protected. We have learnt a lot from the visit," Viacheslav Akimov added.

My feeling based on conversation, where audience claps, etc. is this organization is more concerned with blaming men and complaining about female inequality than actually trying to empower women. Dalai Lama is right, the best person fit for the job is usually chosen, it can be male or female. Personally I think equality between sexes is somewhat irrelevant, that is like men forming groups to be better "mothers", a female is female and is better at some and men are better than other things.
You didn’t get the message of H.H Dalai lama... Compassion... Show towards this interviewer as well even if you didn’t like her interviewing techniques... Peace and Love to you and your family 🙏🏻😊
@@anant2491 Does compassion necessitate that we surrender our critical faculties? Would someone lack compassion if they (quite rightly) declared that I am an awful sportsman? Maria Shriver may be a wonderful person, but as an interviewer she strives to corner the interviewee and impose a particular world-view. Such things are terrible practices, hence I maintain: she is a ghastly interviewer.
Please don't misunderstand me , if I use the wrong word , I m apologize. I can not communicate well with him/next to me .So, I don't want to make him trouble, but I will show up today. May I have coffee with someone by the corner at Starbucks if possible , I can wait. Maybe around 3:00pm I m a little man .
the problem is when women get in positions of authority, they usually think they have to act like men to be taken seriously, and when they do that, they are no different from men, in fact sometimes they are worse, because their attitude is that they have something more to prove, so they get ambitious and go too far with bullying and nastiness...so if women are going to make good rulers, then they must do so by being allowed to behave as women, and not have to become like men to succeed.
I wouldn't say it is a 'female trick' but maybe it seems that way to you. They do have women who are rinpoches and even "Her Eminence" and goddesses in the tradition. I think it is just very weird for us - the way women are and are not integrated in the system and society...we have our own mentality. We sometimes misjudge others but other times we know 'all too well'.
