Singing in the grandest line. Sopranos now want to run about and stand on their heads, and they sound like crap doing it. Complete, utter nonsense. Nothing like that here. This is Donizetti. This is opera. And this is opera's goddess.
maybe they know that they cannot trust the musicality of their vision or their voice to actually convey anything, so they have to be busy to distract from the failures of their voices. I know that I watch them sing and they have little to no intrinsic sense of the drama of the musical phrases or the emotional intentionality of pitch or rhythm. So they add "acting" on top of the music instead of hearing and sensing the acting that the composer has written into the inflections of the melodies.
Indeed. It's like Opera has been turned into Broadway and Opera is not Broadway. Thank goodness we have videos so we can continue to know the difference.
@blessOTMA might explain why many of so-called operatic singers perform on Broadway these days. Additionally, much like lang lang of the classical piano world, when there is nothing there to marvel at, one must add that "acting".
Simply unbearable! Just in case you would like to know how this aria can sound like … when interpreted by a soprano who completed her vocal training with success! Big chest voice, everything is clear in all registers, clear vowels, explosive consonants within a good legato. This is excellent Bel Canto singing: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dyB85NV6Fcc.htmlsi=FR-kgyqDF-gLijKx
